You said last week in the bingin report there are no secret spots in Bali? You lied. I am heartbroken. Where is the bagon?
I’m over there tommorow, wanna give us a clue? haha
What a day, these shots are amazing and the surfings off the radar.I need to book a flight cause i dont think we are ever going to score quality waves in Syd,cenny coast or newy.We just endured the worst summer since like 64 or something and autums been shitter than eva so far.
its up past lebih about 10 minutes.
Great snaps, hows the one where the guy is just takin off and is just about to drop into the pristine bowl……Classic
A special day for sure!!!!
Cred to the guys killin it!!!
Nice tight shots as well dude….
Thanks Bro for exposing the east coast. I know where these spots are and thanks to you they wont be secrets much longer. One in particular better stay off the internet or a certain Balinese guy will love to catch up with you. You’ve been warned!
Take it real easy dude, no names were given for starters,
2/ I was invited there to shoot for a couple of local friends Devis Ratif and Pepen Hendrik. So if you have a problem with that I’ll pass on your need for secrecy to them, by the way have you got a name hey ? Or your certain friend ? nice to know who I’m talking to 🙂
3/ I don’t suppose you know that there is already a website for that spot that gives a daily surf report and a map how to get there ?
So Ace it up sport !
If anyone else would like to comment please feel free or you can even email this guy direct on [email protected]
Best Regards from Bali
Slim
WHY?!
its abit of a shame to see photos of these spots on here slim,
there are already enough people finding out about these spots
already, with the locals guides taking truck loads of japanese
but i guess it spreads the crowds out, looks like no more solo
days out there anymore bummer
You said your dammed if you do and dammed if you dont. Why are you dammed if you dont? You could have gone surfing with your mates and put up the usual outer reef reports couldnt you? Although many of these places are common knowledge they are fickle and hard earned local knowledgeis how you score them all time. Its bad eticatepublisising things like you did. What would happen to you in OZ or anywhere else? Id imagine some sanur boys and one i wont name from Lambongan that take Japs there for good money would like a chat if they see you. You are lucky they are probably not interested in looking at this website (not the smartest kids those sanur boys!) and will just take it out on the hoardes that go there now!
Do you readers care about Bali ?
check out the comments for “Kuta reef to airport left 30th march 2010 ”
Perhaps you have good ideas , or could help to get the ball rolling … Happy Easter to all.
Really Treva do you think I don’t know anyone here in Bali after the years I’ve put in full time, only hanging out with the local boys and not your ex-pat crew.
Really Trever, did I give directions how to get to that place ?
Really Trever, don’t you know there is a website for that place that gives a daily surf report with a google earth map on how to get there ?
Really Trever, do you think, there’s never been a photo published from that place ?
You know Trever, there were plenty of white boys out there surfing that day, with a total crew of around 25 surfers in the water, 3 other photographers and 2 cinematographers (big word) No solo session mate ! That’s right most local surfers (but they are getting on the ball) don’t use baliwaves.com they just here bullshit from provocateurs. They don’t get to see the majority of photos published on baliwaves.com are of local surfers (when I shoot). They don’t get to see how I promote Bali as a safe and happy place for people to come and spend their holidays (and money). Comments like yours don’t do any good at all for Bali or the local people in general.
And to reply to Trucky, yeah mate that’s surfing in the 21st century. My advice to you and Treva if you don’t want to be so disapointed and angry, don’t be a part of Bali in the 21st Century. Enjoy what you guys have had, don’t get all bitter, try some sharing and smiling and get on with it.
You know the funny thing crew, that the majority of those photos were shot 100mtrs south of the Main Break at Keramas, every surfer who goes to Keramas has to IN FACT walk past this wave. Now tell me, did I just expose Keramas ?
In response to Davo, your pretty much on the ball bro. There’s a lot of people who don’t want Bali to evolve. They would prefer no other surfers but themselves here and all the waves to themselves. You should email Trever and Trucky and Man Ting and see if they want to chuck in a couple of grand each to help with the rubbish problem, or to help refurbish an out of the way primary school maybe. Good Luck.
There are no secret spots in Bali, the above spot is on one of the most open and accessible spots in Bali. It’s not hard to find and has been in stacks of vids and mags. To the guys claiming local status and acting tough, pull your heads in or move to some other island. In case you haven’t noticed this one is already crowded and that ain’t gonna change.
To all you guys writing slim off,did any of you discover any of these spots? No didnt think so. Ive been going to bali since 83 and i can still get good waves at most spots if you pick the right time.
Localism sucks!
Sure, we’d all love to have breaks all to ourselves and still can if we get up early enough and things go our way. I’ve had mostly positve vibes from locals in Bali and truly love the place.
There are those who would like to turn it into Hawaii (it seems)with the same moronic mentality that keeps me away from those islands altogether. If there are newcomers at my local spot that come with a smile and treat others with common courtesy I have no problem sharing waves with them. There’s already too many pricks in the water.
Just got back from Batu Karas last week and met some of the coolest locals ever! 20 surfers in the water and we traded waves for hours without the least bit of “Agro-ignorance” rearing its ugly head. We’re all in the water for the same reason… we love to surf… Do common goals create common enemies? I think not… But then, some find it hard just to think…
Oh yeah, I agree with Chris. That pic of the guy takin’ off caused me to book a ticket immediately! Sweet photos man, Hats off to ya.
My advice to Slim – take photos of everywhere an anywhere but dont give hints or names [of places]. That way it leaves some of the mystery intact.
Bali is a pretty small island and the spots arent all that hard to find if you try.[or pay a local guide]
ps , can we pass a law that requires new [euro] surfers to learn basic surf etiquet and rules?
For anyone who wants to have a crack at slim for exposing the breaks. Get fucked and have a dig at the media exposure that has made bali what it is today.
Having stayed with Slim i can safely say he is more respectfull of the culture and the people than 99.99% of the people that are over there (expats included).
So go have a whinge else where and be thankfull someone is getting off their arse and giving you a look into the pumping waves all over Bali.
Cal
Be careful at Padang Galak if you leave your stuff unattended you have a very good chance of being robbed. There watching and waiting.
Perhaps next time you can just say “somewhere in Bali”
fair enough……..
Hey, if I found this spot milling around with my girlfriend, anyone can, just look, or better yet pay a local to show you. Bali’s no secret, but it does have some lesser known gems left. This is one, although if you show up with a bad attitude or some neo-local vibes you might find yourself going over the falls onto urchin city, when you should be smiling and pulling in. Bali is for the Balinese, and they are kind enough to share it with us so… instead of bitchin’ about how good it Was, pull your head out and help to make it better NOW.
I know everyone wants to make Bali better and help by donating money, collecting rubbish and other such means but the problem appears to extremely difficult if not impossible to fix. On an island with an area much smaller than sydney you have a population of 3 million plus and almost no infrustructure, be it public transport, sewerage or garbage disposal. Add to this massive corruption and several million tourists and you can see why it is becoming the way it is, money earmarked for infrastructure developement dissapearing in the tendering process and at the same time expandingtorism developements putting pressure on the limited infrastructue that exists. all you can do is stop developement and build infrastructure by capping the number of tourists which would hurt the balinese, or demolish many hotels and shopping areas to build better roads and systems which would hurt big buisiness. As for the rubbish, were can you put it with such a large population with limited land? Unless you ban plastic there is not much you can do unfortunately.
i know some big developers who would like to have a look at this surf spot and maybe we could run a direct bus line for the japs and some euro surfers willing to pay big money to have a spot where we could say it’s secret we could even advertise a surf school maybe manting could help with the surf school i’d say it would pay better then picking bannas manting this could be a big move in life for you .best regards james . ps manting stay in touch
