Kuta Reef to ULUWATU, 24th March 2010

Hello my friends, well friends of the baliwaves.com anyway. And it is with great pleasure I’m giving you todays run down on surfing and weather conditions from here on the island of sun, surf & fun called Bali.

Ok, so this mornings 6.45am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing another decrease in wave height. But yet again we still had some nice and fun sized chest to head high waves happening between Kuta Reef and Airport left. With the tide on the fall Middle Reef was looking the best with a handful of surfers and head high set waves.

But, it was Uluwatu where I was heading to get ya’s some more photos. Hey and just for the record dept: So far this month baliwaves.com has brought to your monitors 441 high end photos taken from locations like Kuta Reef, Airport left, Bingin, Balian and Bali’s Premier location of Uluwatu. And there’s still more to come this month yet !

So, I turned up at Uluwatu around 9.00am to find a measley 12 surfers in the water on the Main Peak and another handful sitting further down on the Temple section. Wave height was coming through consistently in the head to slightly over head range and surfing conditions absolutely pristine. Clean off-shore wind coming out of the E-SE @ 5-8knot. Today’s stand out surfer was once again Agus “Blacky” Setiawan son of Uluwatu local, Made Lapur.

As the tide started to run back in, as expected, and as usual, the number of surfers jumped to around 70 spread out between the Temple and the Racetrack. But by this time it was already getting towards lunch time and time for this little black sheep to head home. Coming home on the old 6 speed 2 stroke Yamaha past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was barely a ripple showing.

Weather wise today is was pure Bali holiday stuff. Blue sky and sunshine without a cloud insight*. Temperature wise the place to be was on the beach with a maximum of 34 degree’s Celsius and still not far off that mark right now @ 2.00pm.

Done, so enjoy todays photos I shot and now it’s time for me to take a lunch break : )

Swell outlook for the next week is showing small to fun sized waves with a bit of a “yo-yo” affect. Then further out for early next week we could be back in action with a more moderate swell in transit, if… she holds her course.
