2nd April 2010
****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
And a very fine afternoon (here in Bali anyway) to everyone that’s tuning into the baliwaves.com for the news on today’s surfing and weather conditions here on the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
And old Slim’s put in another big one for you guys today. Our venue today was at Canggu for the Oakley Pro 6 star surfing event. The first ISC surfing event for 2010. Arriving just on sun up for some warm up free surfing to find wave height in the 2-3ft range with the occassional bigger freak set on both the right hand river mouth and sandbar sections. I also have to say that the ISC was well represented today with some sick surfing in both free surf sessions and in the main event by local surfers. Unfortunately after only a handful of heats were run the judges decided to postpone the event and try and for cleaner early morning conditions tomorrow.
Surfing conditions as you can see were mainly clean and glassy through the early morning before the wind started to show, coming out of the West @ 3-6knot.
Tidal info had us down for a 0.3mtr Low @ 6.00am and then sunning back up for a solid 2.6mtr High @ midday. Finishing off the day with a reef exposing 0.1mtr Low just after 6.00pm.
Weather wise for the most of the morning was mainly overcast with light and high cloud. Temperature wise a more milder 28-30 degree’s today.
Swell prediction for the next 7 days is looking like we should see a nice little boost in size starting to show tomorrow (Saturday) that will hold through Sunday before losing it’s lustre through Monday. Tursday and Wednesday are looking pretty small, not much change through Thursday. Friday is looking better with another little bump in swell for next weekend.
Bullshit dept; well I thought I did a pretty good job of not dropping names on the East Coast photos I loaded up on the 31st of March. Apparantly I gave away the whole game about “the East Coast” according to one of the latest comments (threats included..) from “Man ting” Check it our and feel free to voice your opinion, I’m open :) For the record I was invited to these places by my local friends Devis Ratif and Pepen Hendrik. It would appear to me that i’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t…… go figure.
Sms surf report from the guys at the G-land Surf Camp was calling a great looking day coming on for the lucky few over in G-Land at the moment. Wave height was hitting Kongs and Money Tree’s in the head to well over head range. No wind at the time of the report and onle 2-3 surfers in the water on Kongs.
Plus I’d like to give a big welcome to OAKLEY INDONESIA who have signed up as major sponsors with the baliwaves.com So I hope you guys can support Oakley Indo by using some of their cool products they have available here in Bali.
