****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello surfers and welcome back to the one and only original bali surf report, baliwaves.com (since ’99). Yes sir it’s been another long day for this little black duck hitting the road at 4.30am for Balian. And finally getting back to home base at 4.30pm and just enough time and steam left to chop up some photos for ya’s.
Pulling up in the empty car park this morning at 6.15am to see an also empty line up with perfect little head to over head waves peeling off both left and right. The boys were stoked and didn’t waste much time getting out there. Especially knowing that the ocean back down south from Kuta to Uluwatu was almost flat. But by 7.30am the boys and girls staying in the area were well and truelly onto it and the number of surfers in the water quickly grew to around the 50 mark. But still spread over 3 – 4 different take off area’s so there were plenty of waves to go round for everyone. Balian even though it is quickly being developed by westerners still has that down to earth country feel about the place. Next time your up that way make sure you drop into “Ayu’s Warung” and say hello to the friendly Balinese owners and staff.
Surfing conditions this morning, well as per the photos I shot you can see it was clean with a light off-shore wind on it. Even at 11.45am when we loaded back into the rental surfing conditions were clean and tidy and now only 15 – 20 surfers in the water. But we had a long drive with some knarly traffic to get through so we said our good bye’s and hit the highway for home.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 2.1mtr High @ 6.00am and then a 0.8mtr Low @ 12.30pm.
Weather wise it’s been pretty much perfect with lots of blue sky and sunshine.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that — 1AU$=Rp7,625 — 1US$=Rp9,060 —
Apology Dept: We’d like to say sorry to anyone who has had trouble viewing the baliwaves.com since last weekend as some jealous prick hacked into our data base and screwed things up. We have fixed this problem and have reported the case to the right people.
Good news is that our assistant Ketut Pica will be returning to duty on the 15th of this month so when Ketut gets back you can expect the photos and reports to recommence flowing hard. Ketut has been helping out at his family village for the last 6 weeks. So it’s been pretty hard slogging with out him while he has been there I tell ya’s.
Traffic up date, man o man don’t even bother to attempt to go anywhere near Kuta to Seminyak with a car. At the moment it’s the Indonesian school holidays and as usual half of Indonesia is currently in Bali doing nothing but driving around and around in circles, creating total grid locks. This will continue until at least the 12th of July when the kids return to school.

Hi everyone this is the best website on the internet and your a legend Slim for providing it for us. I also especially appreciate the good job you did on the Datah Primary school. We can clearly see what a difference you made from the before and after photos you loaded. A special thanks to everyone who contributed to this project.
PS: I’m easily found in Newcastle just look for the super skinny kook with super fuzzy hair aged around 55yrs old, my name is Dave and I love getting on the ice.
Looking for a good beach break. What in your opinion is the best beach break in Bali and how’s it looking at the moment? Great site, keep it up.
Best beach break is Balian, about two hours north of kuta beach, Slim nice work on the photos they’re sick
be back next year ready to charge- FOR NARNIA MATE!!!!!!!
Hi Slim keep up the great work on the No.1 Bali surfing website, if people only knew how much you help the local community and economy over there. Some people just sit around all day being jealous and trying to disturb others, they have no idea………. at all. I also agree with the comment on Balian below, great place and happy locals, on my last trip to Indo had some great waves up there.
Good Karma to baliwaves !
