5th – 6th July 2010
****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hi folks and thanks for taking the time out and stopping by the baliwaves.com for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions here on every surfers favorite holiday destination of Bali. Just before I give ya’s the low down I’d just like to let you all know that we have a new surfing travel tale loaded into our stories section. There’s also another bunch of cultural type photos I’ve loaded into the Gallery section as well from a ceremony I attended at our mountain side village.
Ok, well since yesterday the 5th there hasn’t really been any waves to rave about here along the West Coast of Bali. Wave height on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban has only been in the 0-1ft+ region. I did get an sms surf report from some friends who made the effort to get down to Uluwatu for a look this morning. Apparantly wave height down at Ulu this morning was also only in the waist to chest high region. But still they said it was fun and good to get wet in.
Surfing conditions have been pretty much a mixture of clean and glassy to off-shore to even on-shore here along the West Coast. Making this 2010 dry season one of the weirdest weather wise that I’ve ever seen in the 15+ years I’ve been living here. We are still actually getting rain through the day light hours. Even now at 4.00pm the sky has some nasty looking clouds starting to group together and I’m sure it’s raining somewhere north of Kuta.
But we do have some good news on the wave front for you. Take a look at the few images I’ve loaded of the next approaching swell that should make it’s mark on the 11th of July. These images are courtesy of www.stormsurf.com and www.buoyweather.com
More good news is that our assistant Ketut Pica will be returning to duty on the 15th of this month so when Ketut gets back you can expect the photos and reports to recommence flowing hard. Ketut has been helping out at his family village for the last 6 weeks. So it’s been pretty hard slogging with out him while he has been there I tell ya’s.
Traffic up date, man o man don’t even bother to attempt to go anywhere near Kuta to Seminyak with a car. At the moment it’s the Indonesian school holidays and as usual half of Indonesia is currently in Bali doing nothing but driving around and around in circles, creating total grid locks. This will continue until at least the 12th of July when the kids return to school.
baliwaves.com is still offering anyone who wants to get over to the legendary location of G-Land (www.g-landsurfcamp.com) an honest 15% discount. It all means money back in your pocket !!!
