****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome aboard the baliwaves.com for the start of another new month of surfing and all the info, photos etc etc we can cram onto the site. September is the last month of “Peak Season” here along Bali’s West Coast. And always a good bet for clean wind and lots of waves. So we hope to see ya’s over here soon on the No.1 non stop surf, sun & fun holiday island of Bali.
Just for the record last month we posted over 900 photos on baliwaves.com.
We were pretty well certain that this mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs was going to be showing some nice waves, and there was. With the tide still running out Middle Reef had some head to almost double head high set waves happening. And I’m sure Kuta Reef and Airport Left came into their own as the tide started to push back in. But seeing as though there was still some Northerly direction in the wind we loaded up the rental and headed for Canggu.
When we first pulled up in the cow paddock right in front of the Sand Bar section, wave height only appeared to be breaking in the chest to head high class. But it wasn’t long and it was almost maxing out on all sections at Canggu. I had a quick “G’Day Mate” with Lee Wilson while I was there and he agreed that the wave in the first sequence was probably the biggest Sand Bar tube he’s pulled into at Canggu. The right hander down in front of the river mouth was also really consistent and improving with more tide on it.
Surfing conditions have been perfect and true to form for this time of the year. Light Northerly wind through the early AM before swinging to the ESE – SE by 10.00AM.
Tidal info for the first day of September had us down for a 0.6mtr Low @ 7.00AM and then running back in for a 1.7mtr Low @ 3.00pm.
Weather wise we had some cloudy patches before clearing up for a very hot and sunny day along the beach.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Legian your going to find that — 1AU$=Rp8,025 — 1US$=Rp9,030 — (the best rates I saw coming home from Canggu today were in the Legian / Seminyak area)
Our sms text surf report from the G-Land Surf Camp was calling wave height o have jumped back into the head to double head high class. With Kong’s and Money Tree’s lining up nicely. No surfers in the water at 7.00AM.
