Howdy folks and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com for the “1 click” run down on surfing and weather conditions here on the happy little holiday island of Bali.
Wave height has continued to build over night and now showing in the 3 – 5ft+ (head to double head high plus) range between Kuta Reef and Airport left. At 8.00AM Kuta Reef was peeling off some long walled waves. But as usual when the swell hits so does every man and his dog. Some solid numbers out there for the high tide with around 40+ surfers in the pack. Middle Reef was picking up the bigger waves but only had around 12 riders on it. Airport Left also had some nice short walled waves and a mellow crew of 10 surfers when I went past. Airport Right would have also had some swell on it but the wind would have been way to strong around there.
Down south on the bukit Balangan had some solid waves rocking down the reef in the over head to double head high plus sector. I counted 18 surfers in the water there. We didn’t get close enough to Bingin but I’m sure there would have been some tubes ridden on the afternoon low tide. Impossible’s had a heap of surfers spread out from the very top end of the reef right down to the end section, probably around 40+. As you can see in this current photo gallery our man Ketut Pica has provided Padang Padang also had some nice head to double head high waves. Ketut said there was also around 20+ surfers waiting for the set waves. Down at Uluwatu there were some solid waves in the 4-6ft++ range. We couldn’t get in close enough to get a head count but I did see a lot of waves going through un ridden.
Yes I was out chasing GT’s with a friend, 15 x 10kg’s was our total using light spinning rods.
Surfing conditions were a little tough on the open breaks with the ESE – SE off-shore Tradewind gusting up to 20knot.
Weather wise the rain was bucketing down from 7.00AM through until 11.00AM before we started to see a little blue sky.
Sms text surf report from our friends at the G-Land Surf Camp was calling wave height to be hitting Kongs and Money Tree’s in the solid 6 – 8ft sector. Good clean off-shore wind and 5 surfers on Money Tree’s at the time of the report.
