****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE****
Hi folks and thanks for calling by the baliwaves.com (’99) for today’s run down on surfing and weather conditions here on everybody’s favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
This morning at 4.30AM I was woken by a howling WNW wind that was rattling the windows so with piece of mind that we weren’t going to be benefiting from an early start I went back to bed. At the more gentlemanly hour of 5.45Am the wind had settled down to an easy N-NW so we decided on heading back to the shore bet waves at Canggu.
The swell forecast had predicted the waves the be a touch smaller and they were right. Wave height up at Canggu was only coming through in the waist to chest high region with the wind light cross shore out of the NW. There was only 1 surfer riding the left hand reef. The sand bar was picking up the bigger set waves with only 6 surfers and then the right hander on the river mouth was smaller at waist to waist high plus and 3 surfers. Looking further down to the south from Canggu at “old mans” there was at least 35 surfers in the water.
Surfing conditions up at Canggu were pretty clean when we first arrived but after an hour or so the wind did start to get stronger. I think it was around 10.30AM that she swung back to the north and back to off-shore at Canggu.
Weather wise another mainly over cast day with some sunny periods. Temperature wise along the beach it was a warm 29 – 30 degree’s Celsius with a water temp of 24C.
Ok then I think it’s time for a break from Canggu. Tomorrow the charts are calling for a bump in wave height so we’ll be heading somewhere different for a change in pace and scenery. Make sure ya call in tomorrow arvo to see what it’s like.
We’ve also been playing around with our “locations” page where we are currently up-dating with more locations, and an extra bonus of Bali street maps. So go and get yourself lost in there !
