****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Howdy folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (’99) for the latest news on today’s surfing and weather conditions here on everybody’s favorite holiday island destination of Bali.
This mornings 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban had wave height looking a little better. Still only small in the knee to knee plus range but showing a bit more energy. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy, you could just feel the wind coming out of the SSE @ 1-1knot+. But still I don’t think you could have ridden anything between Kuta Reef and Airport Left unless you only weighed in around the 25kg class.
It wasn’t much later, around 8.00AM that the wind swung further around to the South and increased into the 5 – 7knot range. The Southerly is not the kindest wind for Bali, on either coast. Especially when the waves are small. We’ve got to do a couple of normal errands this morning (like pay the electricity bill etc) then later this afternoon if the weather is ok we’ll take a run over to the East Coast to see what’s going down.
Just for the record Tidal info for today has us down for a 0.2mtr Low @ 7.30AM and then filling back in with a 2.0mtr High around the 2.00PM mark. NB: We should have our 2011 tide charts on line very soon !
Weather wise there was some rain through the night and early AM and still plenty of cloud around at dawn. Looks like we are in for another mild and overcast day with the chance of an afternoon shower.
Swell outlook for this weekend the charts are showing a slight improvement for today and Sunday. With Monday smaller, then the “yo-yo” effect (up and down) through until late Thursday when hopefully we’ll see the start of a nice new medium sized swell starting to build.
I’ve also loaded up a short story from a friend of mine named Corey Rix. Cory took a trip over to G-Land at the end of season and scored epic waves with only a handful of other surfers in the area. Check it out on the “recent posts”.
