**** AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy folks and welcome back to the baliwaves (’99) for today’s news on surfing and weather conditions from here on your favorite tropical surfing holiday island destination of Bali.
We got off to another wet start here in Bali this morning with rain falling through until around 8.00AM. But the good thing was that the wind was only light coming out of the NW @ 2-4knot+. So as it says on photo No.1 in todays gallery we put in that little extra travel time and made our way up to Keramas. By the time we arrived the rain had stopped and the wind was fanning the waves with a light off-shore breeze.
There were around 20 surfers in the water on our first glimpse but within 30 mins there was only 10 left in the water with fun little waist to shoulder high plus waves peeling off. As usual, one of my local fishing surfing friends (Koming / Kuta Lines) rekoned we were about an hour and a half too late, bigger and better earlier….
Leo from bali-surfing.com sms’d through his surf report from on location at Nusa Dua. Apparently wave height at Geger Beach was also similar to Keramas in the waist to head high range. Only with at least 50+ surfers spread along the reef, “the cars just kept coming and coming..”. Pretty standard anywhere in the World, small waves equals big crowds.
I was also talking to a young Aussie at Keramas and he was saying that his surf check on Serangan this morning had the number of surfers in the water at over 100. So I reckon we made the right choice with Keramas.
Tidal info for today has us down for a 2.1mtr High @ 10.30AM and then running out for a 0.5mtr Low around the 4.00PM mark.
Weather wise we’ve had a pretty mild sort of a day. Once the rain finished this morning we’ve been left with an overcast sky. Temperature wise the mercury would have been lucky to bust 27 degree’s Celsius, while the water temperature is a warm 25 degree’s Celsius.
Ok friends that’s just about it for today time to go and get stocked up for tomorrow’s Hari Raya Nypie (Nypie Day). Once again I think the airport is closed for the day and this year even the TV stations won’t be on air. There’s not going to be anywhere for us to go and nothing to see and report. So out of respect for our Balinese friends we won’t be posting anything on baliwaves.com or on twitter. But we will be chomping at the bit come Sunday morning !!!

Night club danger; New’s came through to me over last weekend of an Australian having the shit kicked out of him by no less than 6 security staff in a Kuta night club on Friday night. Apparently the English owners of the bar gave the order to the security staff…. Caruso’s Bar.
Best Regards in Surfing
