****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Howdy crew and thanks for calling by the baliwaves (’99) for the start of the weekend edition for those who want to really know what’s happening here on their favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well this morning we were looking at a change in locations so with a morning high tide and a light Northerly wind we decided on checking out Canggu. We were up to early for a surf check on the Outer Reefs but I don’t think there would have been much happening at that time of the morning anyway. As you’ve seen in today’s photo gallery I snapped there was some pretty good waves on all banks. The right hander had around 25 surfers on it while the sand bar and the left hand reef break only had a handful on each. Average wave height would have been in the waist to head high, with the occassional bigger freak set. We hung out for a second session before the wind started to swing to the SE and blow cross shore. Since then it’s swung back to the WNW.
Now the boys are thinking about a late afternoon surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. I probably won’t get a chance but there’s a good chance my friends will.
Tidal info for today had us down for a solid 2.2mtr High @ 9.00 and then running off for a 0.5mtr Low around 3.00PM.
Weather wise; the rain started in the wee hours of the morning and didn’t let up until 6.30AM. Then we had a light drizzle until 9.00AM before coming out hot and humid by 11.00AM. Plenty of blue sky out there now at 2.35PM.
This morning’s text surf report from lakey peak on the island of Sumbawa was calling another day very similar to yesterday. Clean and calm surfing conditions, blue sky, wave height 1-1ft+.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Legian; –1AU$=Rp9,065 — 1US$=Rp8,670 –.
Ok surfers we hope you have a good weekend and drop by if you get a chance as we’ll be back out there again chasing waves, and the prospect of some fresh swell coming.
I’ve also noticed an email from our friends up in the Mentawai’s in my inbox, so I’ll get their latest info and pics on line for ya’s ASAP.
We’ve also got some new surfing / accommodation packages sorted out for those of you who want nothing more to think about except surfing, at the right place at the right time. Hit this info link to find out more.
Good news for any of you that want to get over to the legendary location of G-Land this year as baliwaves.com will still be dishing out a solid 15% discount off their advertised prices for the G-Land Surf Camp. All camps at G-Land will be re opening in March 2011 so if you want some un crowded G-Land get in early. Make sure you contact us first if you want that 15% rebate back in your pocket.
We’ve also been playing around with our “Surf Spots” page where we are currently up-dating with more locations, and an extra bonus of Bali street maps. So go and get yourself lost in there !
Best Regards in Surfing
