****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Good afternoon or “selemat sore” to everyone and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves (’99) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on the non stop surfing, holiday destination of Bali.
We figured that wave height would have been backing off overnight so no time for a surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. We were in the car and headed South by 5.40AM. As it say’s on photo No.1 in today’s gallery we turned up at Balangan just after the sun rose to see 1 lone surfer in the water with wave height a very clean waist to slightly over head. Hardly any wind at all happening up until around 8.30AM when it only just became a light and variable, until settling into the SE around 11.00AM. The best waves were through the early morning around mid tide. We did hang out to see what would happen as the tide started to run back out, but it sadly appeared to be dropping off instead. And now with a crowd of over 45, time to pack up.
Tidal info for today had a 2.6mtr High around 10.30AM and then running out for a reef exposing 0.1mtr Low around 5.00PM.
Weather wise it’s been a mainly sunny day but we did get a few drops of rain early and then again around 9.00AM down on the bukit. Temperature wise out side right now at 3.00PM we have 30 degree’s Celsius and the wind coming out of the E-SE @ 20kms.
This mornings news from G-Land, thanks to the crew at the G-Land Surf Camp. Was calling head to well over head sized waves breaking on the bottom of Kongs and Money Tree’s, slightly smaller down on the Pad. Surfing conditions @ 8.00AM (East Java time) were clean and glassy with 2 surfers on Money Tree’s and 1 surfer riding the Pad.
Travel Tip (for Australians) sent in to us by a long time baliwaves user.
“On another note , it might pay to bring to your readers attention that Pacific Blue/Virgin Australia , have now totally abolished their sporting goods allowance , meaning that surfboards etc are to be weighted in at their full weight and all included within their 23kg checked in baggage allowance . This is a kick in the teeth for surfers from the so-called adventureman sir richard asswipe , seeing surfers were the 1st tourist to bali and the predominant visiters here ( and on the airlines )during the downturn from the bali bombs .
There were guys forking out up to AUD$500.00 extra in excess baggage on my flight back to Bali after being caught out unaware . They will also have to pay that money on their return also”
