****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello to everyone tuning into the weekend on the baliwaves (’99) for the latest and of course the greatest on today’s surfing and weather conditions, from right here on the only real deal tropical surfing holiday island of Bali.
Ok so like I mentioned in this mornings 6.00AM mobile TWITTER up date, surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban were shaping up for one helluva day of waves. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was back up into the head to double head high range and showing every inclination of getting bigger through out the day. Even at day break there were surfers in the line up at Kuta Reef and on Middle Reef. Airport seemed to be missing a lot of the swell.
But, as it shows in today’s 65 strong photo gallery we made the effort and headed back down south for a look at Balangan. And I tell ya that’s all it took ! Our first glimpse from up on top of the hill was showing double head high waves peeling off for ever. With the tide still running in it wasn’t long and there was the odd triple head high plus set waves cleaning up the line up. Crowd wise I was still pretty surprised to take a head count of 50 surfers spread out from the point to way down past the middle section.
As the tide past the peak of the high and started running back out there were some serious tube rides going down. And even the odd GUNG HO no pulling out suicide surfer riding the barrel right down through the impossible shallow end section. I gotta say Balangan today had some of the best waves I’ve ever seen at this location poring through, not too mention the always off shore optical on the beach.
Surfing conditions, pristine.
Tidal info had us down for a 0.7mtr Low @ 9.30AM and then filling back in with a 1.8mtr High around 3.00PM.
Weather wise, same as surfing conditions, perfect.
Today’s G-Land Surf Report thanks to the nice folk over at the G-Land Surf Camp was calling solid 6 footers pouring onto the Launching Pad. With the very probability of a possible Speed Reef session on the bottom of the low tide. Want to get over to G-Land ? drop me an email for a solid discount.
I’ll talk to ya’s again tomorrow and more than likely another batch of quality photos. Right now I’m pretty beat up, my day started at 5.00AM and right now it’s just hit 8.45PM.
For any of you that just want nothing more than a hassle free, get up and go surf perfect waves every morning, see and do what the hotel / resort sect don’t. Well we have some new surfing / accommodation packages that will have you at the right location at the right time everyday. All deals include your own photographer at no extra cost. Hey Steve !
Thanks mate I’m stoked to be able to do what I have been doing over here, promoting Bali and living the eternal surfers lifestyle (’76) 🙂
It’s been a long long time since Slim has asked for a helping hand through baliwaves, but it sure would be good to be able to buy another camera and lens. More equipment more jobs for the locals and more photos for you all. Just a thought

Hey slim,
This is Greg H I’m just using one of my many false email address I have. I just can’t help it it’s so easy to be someone else on the net. But anyway I’m still taking surfing lessons and hope to make my first trip overseas to Bali in the next year or two (I should be good enough to take on Padang Padang by then) Just wanted to say what a top little website baliwaves.com is, your photos and the amount of time and effort you put into this site will always be appreciated by thousands and thousands of surfers for years and years to come.
Thanks again Slim & Team
