****LATE MAIL****
Hello and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (’99) for another look at what’s been happening over here surf and weather wise on everybody’s favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Sorry about the late mail but once again there just wasn’t enough hours in the day to get this report on line. FYI my family and I are in the motion of setting up New House, so yeah it’s a little hectic ATM..
Yesterday the 26th we were tossing coins on whether or not to head to the East Coast or stick it out here on the West Coast. When I did my first wind check @ 4.30AM it was blowing hard out of the SE so we settled on heading down South to Balangan. On arrival @ 6.45AM the waves and conditions were looking good with clean and glassy waves peeling off in the 2-3ft sector. But within 10 mins of hitting the water the wind did a switcharoo on us and started picking up in strength out of the North then to the North West. Also bringing in bucket loads of rain.
But we hung in there, knowing it couldn’t last for too long. Mistake, the rain and wind kept on coming through until at least 12.00 noon before finally backing off and a return of ESE – SE off shore Tradewind. Low numbers in the water down at Balangan with waves in the waist to head high region with the very occasional bigger over head freak set wave.
Right now here in Bali @ 5.00AM the wind, like yesterday is coming hard out of the SE at least up to 15knot+. I’m thinking she might turn to the North again around sun up so we’ll plan today’s surfing mission accordingly. Tune in later this afternoon and see how we fare.
