Kuta Reef to Keramas (cranking), 13th August 2011

Howdy folks, and a big welcome to the weekend here on the baliwaves (’99) for the latest and always the greatest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on every sane surfers favorite surfing holiday destination of Bali.

Startin off with the usual surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban wave height was looking pretty ordinary first thing at 6.15Am with only 2-3 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions out the front were also only ordinary with the wind coming lightly out of the NNW @ 2-4knot. But the almighty swell prediction charts were calling for a nice bump in size today so we, as it says on photo No.1, hit the highway for the East Coast / Keramas.

Pulling into the almost empty car park at 7.15AM to see a couple of solid well over head waves peeling off down the beach at Kmas. By the time we got our shit together and in location right in front of the set up there were some solid double head high waves turning inside out for the already 7 surfers in the water. Surfing conditions were tight as with a clean and light off shore wind that lasted through until 10.00AM. The crowd today never got above 16 in total but with some very talented riders in the line up. What else can I say except have another flick through today’s 67 strong gallery.

I also had a phone through surf report from Devis Ratif (Quicksilver Indo) saying that Canggu was also smoking through on the sand bar and river mouth sections in the head to double head high sector. Good clean wind direction for Canggu as well.

Tidal info for today had us penned in for a 2.2mtr High @10.00AM and then she’ll be draining out for a 0.3mtr Low around the 4.00PM mark.

Weather wise over on the East Coast it was just hot and sunny. Even right now at 3.30PM the outside temperature is still sitting on 29 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is now coming out of the SE @ 10-13knot.
