****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hi crew and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves ’99 for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 surfing holiday island destination of Bali.
We’ll this morning after taking a look at surfing conditions on the Outer reefs here in Tuban I decided on just sending out a quick twitter sms up date. Suming it up as knee to knee high plus between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. And with the wind on shore coming out of the SW. Then sometime close by 11.30AM (Bali time) we experienced some house wobbling in the form of an Earth tremor that lasted for a good 90 seconds. No damage happened in Tuban but I did see on TV shortly after a lot of house tiles had fallen off roofs in Denpasar and a suburb or two else wehere in Bali. No threat of tsunami and we haven’t felt anything since the initial tremor 2 hours past.
I have personally felt a real earth quake a long time ago when I was living in Newcastle / Australia. What we had in Bali this morning, even though stronger on the quake scale, I would in no way class as an “Earth quake”, just an Earth tremor. I was also once told a long time ago here in Bali by an older Balinese gentleman that these tremors are pretty much the norm for this time of the year, marking the change of seasons.
I did make it back to the beach for another surf check at 1.00PM and surfing conditions have only deteriorated with the wind increasing in strength, coming more out of the Western quadrant.
Today’s photo gallery was delivered to us late last night from our old friends at Hendra Surf Photography located down at Uluwatu.
Tidal info for today had us down for a 2.2mtr High @ 11.00AM and then running out for a fairly low and reef exposing 0.3mtr Low around 5.00PM.
Weather wise around the island today it’s been a mainly hot and sunny day. Currently outside right now at 1.30PM the temperature is sitting on a warm 28 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity level on 69%. Wind direction is coming out of the West @ 12-14knot.
Swell Predictions thanks to our friends at Stormsurf.com (the leading forecasters for Indonesian waters) is calling small waves again through tomorrow before we see a moderate swell starting to show on Saturday morning. This one will peak on Sunday and then around Tuesday another larger system will roll in on top of the previous. So start getting those guns ready boys.

Seemed a hell of a lot stronger than just a little tremor to me up on the bukit. I have a solid crack above my bedroom doorway close to 10mm wide from frame to ceiling, over the road had part of their roof fall down
