****MORNING SURF UP DATE****
Hello everyone and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves ’99 for the latest news on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on the friendliest little holiday island full of waves, sun and fun, Bali.
Just to get the show on the way here’s the photo gallery that Ketut captured from down at Uluwatu yesterday. Still plenty of waves down at Ulu averaging in the waist to chest high region with the occassional head high bigger set waves.
This mornings 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was looking pretty similar to yesterday. Except, that there were a few little waist to waist high plus waves peeling off on Middle Reef. The tide was too low for Kuta Reef or Airport Left and I imagine when the tide does fill back in it will revert back to a lake. Maybe later, on the afternoon low Middle Reef might pulse a few more waves through.
Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with the wind coming lightly out of the North @ 1-2knot.
Tidal info for today had a 0.2mtr Low @ 7.00Am and then filling back in with a 1.9mtr High around the 1.00PM mark.
Weather wise we have got off to a mild start this morning and a few drops of rain around 7.15AM. Still pretty overcast and still outside right now (8.30AM). The temperature is sitting on 25 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is right on 100%. Wind direction is now coming out of the West @ 1-2knot. We should see some sunny patches through out the day but every chance of some late afternoon / evening rain. Sunrise @ 5.50AM and setting @ 6.15PM.
Looking for a wave today, well with the morning low tide there’s Middle Reef as mentioned. Should still be something breaking on the Racetrack at Uluwatu. You could also find some shallow ones over on the East Coast at Nusa Dua. Depending which way the wind is going to dedicate to, East or West, Ulu or Nusa Dua will be the best bet.
Here’s a worthy travel tip, especially for our Australian surfers heading to Bali. Of course it’s a certantity that your not going to miss your flight over to Bali. But make sure you are 100% aware of your return date and most importantly the time the flight leaves. The majority of flights that leave from Bali to Australia (East Coast) depart Denpasar International Airport just after 12 midnight. So a lot of people have been missing their return flights to Oz by turning up to check in but only to find their flight left at 00.20hrs that morning. Then getting stung by the airlines and made to buy another one way ticket. And last minute ticket purchases are not cheap. Makes me wonder if it’s just not another scam by the airlines to snare unsuspecting travellers into having to buy another ticket. Of course they would know that Aussies out on holidays are going to be enjoying themselves big time and maybe a little forgetful… Having to have to be “checked out” of your hotel room by midday, and then not getting a flight till after midnight would be a proper pain in the arse. So many Australians fly to Bali each year but still we get the worst possible flight times (East Coast) to and from. I’ve always flown with Garuda Indonesia and would not dream of using a different airline to or from Bali. Nb: I personally know of 4 people this year alone, who got caught by missing their flight home, turning up a day late, and all had to purchase a new ticket.
For any of you that just want nothing more than a hassle free, get up and go surf perfect waves every morning (pending Huey), see and do what the hotel / resort sect don’t.
