20th – 21st March 2012
****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hi folks and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (since ’99) for the latest news on surfing and weather conditions from here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok well yesterday the 20th and I do have to say weather wise she was about as bad as it gets for Bali standards with pretty well non stop rain and strong W-WSW wind all day long. It was a good day to stay in doors and practice for “Hari Raya Nyepi” or Nyepi Day as most of you people might better know it as, fast approaching for the 23rd of March.
How ever this morning the 21st and we were pretty keen to get out and find some waves. So it was over to Bali’s East Coast, only around a 25 minute drive from Tuban to one of the more popular locations. There were some solid set waves standing up and peeling off both left and right on the main peak with around 35 surfers on it. But the rest of the beach was owned by surf schools and there would have had to have been well over 1,000,000. students in the water (maybe over estimated a little). Well they were pretty thick and in full mayhem mode to each other everytime a clean up set came through.
Surfing conditions were not too bad with the wind varying from SW – WSW -W and back and forth.
Today’s Tidal info had a 2.1mtr High @ 10.00AM and then running out for 0.6mtr Low around the 4.00PM mark.
Weather wise it’s been about the best we’ve had over the 6 days or so and finally some blue sky busting out. Temperature wise right now at 5.45PM the mercury is sitting on 28 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity on 79%. Wind direction has also backed off to 12knot coming out of the West.

Its called Nyepi by the way.

Is that serangan? Waves look like it, but there’s trees everywhere. Last I was there, it was all landfill.
