****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello everyone and a big thank you for calling by the baliwaves (since ’99) for today’s news on surfing and weather conditions from here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well no need for a long and drawn out summary on surfing conditions today. Basically the wind has been pretty well light on shore out of the West South West most of the day except for this mornings early AM window. And coupled with a solid early afternoon High Tde there wasn’t much room for improvement.
But as it shows in today’s mini gallery there was still a few waves to be had down at Bali’s premier surfing location, and still no surf schools invading there as yet. Wave height was varying from waist to head high with the occasionally slight bigger freak set.
Tide wise the next one is going to be a 0.2mtr Low around the 7.00PM mark.
Weather wise it’s been a mainly hot and sunny day along the beach with the odd cloud or two passing over. Currently right now at 2.45PM the outside temperature is sitting on 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity on 69%. Wind direction is now South at 3-5knot.
On the long range swell prediction department it’s looking like we’ve still got a few days of below average / credible sized waves to get through before our next swell arrives next Tuesday (plus or minus).

hahaha good one slim , that was funny – that photo of the wimpy boogyboarder bailing out on the two foot soft windswell wave , another kook in the water beyond his limits .
All you beginners , take a good look at the other guy paddling out , as this is what you should be doing , notice how he is making an effort to paddle to the left of the rider on the wave so that he is not in the way .
Im continually amazed at the stupidity of many learners , at how they deliberatly choose to put themselves in danger by paddling over the shoulder of waves in front of riding surfers . Those pointy surfboards can injure you badly sending you straight to the hospital , or even kill you .
*** Impotant tips for Learners ;
Do you walk out in front of cars speeding in the traffic and expect the car to slam on its brakes, or swerve around you just so you can cross the road ?
– no you dont ! …, you wait untill the speeding car passes and then cross behind it ! ….,
Think of the WAVE ; as the “road” , and the RIDING SURFER as the “fast car”
– Paddle BEHIND the riding surfer and NOT in front , even if it means you have to duckdive (or get smashed) under a big scary wave – Comprende .
*** Sometimes getting out of the way will require ” quick calculated judgement ” …., and as soon as you see a riding surfer speeding towards you , you must decide your action ASAP to ” DO YOUR BEST ” to get out of the way – You must work hard on developing this skill , and stick to uncrowded out of the way places untill you do .
Sometimes you may have to stop paddling altogether to let that rider surf past you , or paddle as fast as you can parallel to the wave to get behind the rider, decide your course of action quickly then do whatever it takes , because that rider expects clean waves without unwanted obsticles , and this will always take priority over your efforts to get out the back , plus a rider will always appreciate/respect you for making the effort to get out of the way , or curse you (or worst ) if you dont .
Learning this is more important than learning to stand up .
BTW , Im also hoping if someone could please translate this info , to the various Euro and Russian languages and then re – post to their websites .

Hi Davo !
EXCELLENT BRO, this is a basic elementary of surfing, the first i should say is never never never just throw your board away !!! Your surf guide / instructor won’t always be around to mother you.
For your own safety and the safety of other more experienced surfers, please learn to surf / paddle and of course the etiquette’s of surfing at the beach away from other people. it’s that simple and you will have fun and maybe even learn to surf.
