****MORNING SURF UP DATE****
Hello surfers and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves.com (since 1999) for the latest and greatest news on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the ONLY place to head for on a tropical surfing holiday, BALI !!!
Alright then well if you don’t know I’ve been having a helluva time with my usually reliable internet connection. Yesterday she was dead as, this morning she’s rocking hard again.
Yesterday with the SE Trade wind already up early and blowing hard we really had no other choice other that to head South down to the bukit. Just for the sake of a surf check we stopped off at Balangan first for a hill side over view. Wave height at Balangan was only showing in the waist to head high class and only 6 surfers in the water at 7.45AM. Not quite happening for my crew so we opted to keep trucking South to Bali’s best and Premier surfing location of Uluwatu.
As it shows in today’s gallery I snapped off Uluwatu as usual was kranking out the action with wave height hitting the Main Peak in the head to double head high region. There was also the od bigger freak set keeping the boys and girls on their toes. Surfing conditions were very clean and tidy with the wind hitting the waves from straight off-shore. There was a surprisingly strong number of surfers in the water but still plenty of waves for everyone.
This mornings surf recon on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban wasn’t looking too bad either. With wave height showing in the 2-3ft+ (chest to over head) between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. At 6.30AM the tide was still too low for Kuta Reef or Airports but Middle Reef was peeling off some nice waves in the head to over head class. It is already the start of our main surfing (DRY) season so as expected being this close to Kuta and the hub of tourisim in Bali there were already at least a dozen surfers in the water. (Just for the record and for the sake of any semi ex-pats, baliwaves.com has never posted 1 photo of this totally visible surfing location).
Ketut loaded up the camera equipment this morning and set off early for Canggu, against all odds and wind direction. But has since phoned through to tell of clean waves hitting the river mouth and sand bar sections in the chest to head high plus range. There were 10 surfers surfing at Canggu at the time. Maybe we’ll see some photographic evidence of this when Pak Ketut returns back to Home Base.
Here’s another big plus plus for the baliwaves with our long anticipated arrival of the latest batch of surfing photos out of G-Land. Thanks to our friends at the G-Land Surf Camp and their resident surf photographer Mr Thomas Hawk (Dave). Dave has also phoned through to let us know to get ready for some more images in the very very near future that he shot of Money Tree’s and the famous Speed Reef from out the camp surf boat.
Dave or Mr Tommy Hawk, has also texted through this morning to tell of a slightly smaller surf at G-Land. Wave height at 7.40AM (Bali time) was holding in the chest to head high plus range. Clean and glassy surfing conditions with the off shore Trade wind expected to turn it on any time soon. Only 5 surfers in the water at the time of this report.
Just let us know if you want to get over to G-Land for the ultimate surfing / lifestyle experience and we’ll help you get there and save you some dollars in the process. I’ll get Dave’s photos on line as soon as my stuff is loaded, give me another 25 minutes ok.
Our friends at ESP have also dropped another batch of photos from Bingin on us and they have been placed in a que and will be loaded by the first available operator…
Tidal info for today has us down for an early morning Low and then a solid High around midday. Then finishing off the day with a sunset, dry reef exposing, 0.0mtr Low.
Weather wise this morning we have a good looking blue sky with the outside temperature currently sitting on 27 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is 70% @ 9.00AM. Wind direction coming out of the East @ 15-18knot+.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Legian; Well the Aussie dollar has taken a few knocks and currently backed off to around the 1AU$=Rp9,100 mark give or take 50 Rupiah. While the US dollar is still stable @ 1US$=Rp9,220 give or take 50 Rupiah.
You’ll also notice the last few images in today’s gallery feature my good friends at the Surya Cafe and Villas. If you looking for some local Balinese hospitality in the Uluwatu area make sure you drop them a line and say hello.
Tomorrow the charts are calling for another bump in wave height and a slight change in swell direction. So if your sitting in the office and don’t feel like working, and want to see the change for yourself check out the Impossible’s surf cam on your baliwaves.com
