****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hello friends of Bali and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com (Bali’s first surfing website since 1999) for the latest and greatest news on today’s surfing and weather conditions from here on your favorite tropical surfing holiday island of BALI.
Ok well sorry about yesterdays “no show” as Ketut and I though we had earned a day off to put the old traditional double outrigger boat in the water and spend some time out chasing some sport fish. Not much luck with only a couple of Barracuda boated, frustrated by school after school on surface feeding Tuna that would not take any kind of artificial lure or spinner offered. But all the same what a feeling to be out on the water with a mate, fantastic.
Today the 2nd of October and this mornings 7.15Am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing some fun sized little waves in the waist to head high range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. By this time and with an in coming tide there were already a few surfers out on all 3 of the main sections with surfing conditions clean and glassy from a very light Northerly wind.
As it shows in today’s photo gallery that ketut smashed off at Canggu there was also plenty of fun sized 2-3 footers breaking on the sand bar and river mouth sections at Canggu. Surfing conditions up there were clean with an off shore wind until the SE Tradewind kicked in around 9.00AM.
I’ve also loaded 3 images I grabbed off our baliwaves (free) web cam located overlooking Impossible Reef and shows from morning through the high tide fill out and then back to the afternoon run out tide.
Speaking of, the next tide today here in Bali will be a 0.3mtr Low at 4.44PM
Weather wise here on the holiday island it sure has been a warm one. Pretty well non stop blue sky except for some early morning cloud patches. Currently right now at 4.20PM the outside temperature is sitting a very warm 30 degree’s Celsius, humidity level is at 66%. Wind direction is still SE at 8-11knot.
Davey’s G-land Surf Report thanks to the G-land Surf Camp was calling a sevre drop in size this morning for the head to well over head high perfection they have been experiencing. This morning saw waist to head high set waves left breaking on Kongs and Money Tree’s. Perfect surfing conditions with the off shore wind up early AM. Davey has also sent us over another sick photo gallery featuring the famous Speed Reef section of G-Land and you can find that on our G-Land surf report page.
I’ve also loaded a new report and photos from our good friends up North at the Real Kandui Surf Resort and likewise you’ll find that material on our Mentawai islands surf report page.
I’ve also been sent via email an interesting link to a report on the land developement, rubbish and traffic situation here on Bali written by the Indonesian authorities on the matter and published in the Australian news paper. If you want to have a read too then just follow this link.
Paradise lost as once beautiful Bali buckles under forklifts and fallacies

Hey D, the Tuna were feeding on exceptionally really small bait fish and it’s pretty hard to match anything to look like a 2cm long by 3mm wide bait fish in the way of lures, I didn’t have my “feathers” with me…. But they were schooling up thick !!! Tried everything else in my lure box but just got frustrated after a couple of hours and went back to trolling Rapalla’s. That’s when the Barracuda hit, trolling. If the swell isn’t too big tomorrow I’m going to go back out and try again !!! Yesterday afternoon one of my local fishing friends caught a 35kg GT trolling 🙂
