****AFTERNOON SURF UP DATE****
Hi surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves (leading the way in Bali surf reports and photos since 1999) for today’s dose of surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday island of BALI.
Kicking off our day with a mandatory surf recon on the Outer Reefs (6.30AM) here in Tuban to find a slight bump in wave height for chest to well over head high waves between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was a super low reef exposer so no chance for a paddle on Kuta Reef or Airports but Middle Reef was peeling off some clean as you like head to well over head high set waves. Hard to tell at that kinda distance from shore but there looked to be at least half a dozen early birds out there getting into them.
We hung out making our plan of attack waiting for a little more tide to roll in, well Ketut’s plan of attack anyway. Before eventually packing him off over to the East Coast to Bali’s undisputed best right hand wave of Keramas. As it shows in today’s 68 strong photo gallery it was absolutely cranking at K-Mas this morning. Wave height was a consistent 3-4ft (head to well over head) with the wind clean off shore, what wind there was on the East Coast. According to our man Ketut there was some red hot surfing going down with a few of the contenders warming up for this years OAKLEY WORLD PRO JUNIOR set to commence on the 5th of this month. I’ve also included a few frames from our free to view Impossible’s surf cam. Don’t forget there is a new resort being built close by Keramas and according to all sources including the local side the developers are totally committed to working together with the local community. Just for example, once apon a time there were no hotels at Kuta or down at Uluwatu for that matter, and I’m sure the same goes for even in Hawaii, Gold Coast or Sydney but they are there now and we have all learned to live with progress.
The next tide today here in Bali is going to be a 0.4mtr Low at 5.09PM
Weather wise it’s more or less been another classic holiday type of day with plenty of sunshine. Currently right now at 5.00PM the outside temperature is sitting on 29 degree’s Celsius, humidity level is 62%. Wind direction is S-SSE at 7-11knot.
There’s probably more but that’ll do ya’s until tomorrow (unless I decide to goof off and go fishing again) Have a good one, and if I do Ketut will take care of ya’s.
I’ve also been sent via email an interesting link to a report on the land developement, rubbish and traffic situation here on Bali written by the Indonesian authorities on the matter and published in the Australian news paper. If you want to have a read too then just follow this link.

Slim, oh slim..”Just for example” all those places you mentioned are hollow shells of what they were; they are now the the Surf Disney Lands of the world with attendant money grubbing, greed and surf magazine attitude to the max. They are ruined, except for Hawaii only because there a many small time spots that wannabe surf heroes don’t like because there is no enough exposure, no doubt the same in OZ with many smaller time spots.
You mean; tolerate “progress” and BTW, how in the world can you call that BS “progress”!!
Sorry I just had to laugh when you say there is assurance nothing will change as the new “resort”(may they rot in hell, and go bankrupt) goes up, according to the locals, booowhaaa..You know for a fact, uang changes all and anything said, today can, and will be different later.. Look for the beach at the reef you keep showing to be closed sometime in the future to only; paying customers..
Hope the family is all good…Peace Out….WP
