BALI
7th November 2012
Hello folks and thanks for calling back by the baliwaves.com (keeping it real since 1999) for today’s news and views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
We were up early again this morning and making our way down to the southern end of the island by 6.00AM. Arriving at our first surf check location of Balangan by 6.30Am to see the usual pretty post card picture scenery but lacking in the thing we were searching for, waves. Only knee to waist high on the freak sets at the time, no surfers in the water and clean and glassy surfing conditions.
So it was an obvious choice to bee line from there straight down to Bali’s premier surfing location and swell magnet, Uluwatu. It was just after 7.00Am by the time we were settled in at Ulu and the boys waxing up. Wave height through the morning low tide was also pretty small, around the waist to head high class. Only another 8 surfers were in the water so the numbers were good anyway. Surfing conditions at first were clean and glassy but it wasn’t long before the wind first switched to the West putting a little bit of chop into the equation. Then around 10.30AM with an incoming tide started to drift more to the SSE and cleaned back up again. By the time we packed up at midday there would have been 50 surfers scattered through the line up with cleaner waves and a touch more size and power happening.
Driving home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was lucky to be a 1-1ft+ line showing on Imposs.
Here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban you could have pretty well called it a lay day with only 1-2 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll still have a little swell hanging about. But Saturday and Sunday are looking much better swell wise. So keep the Bali stoke happening right here with us on the baliwaves.com
Weather wise today it was a mainly overcast typ of day and there was some scattered showers around the southern end of the island back through to Kuta.
