BALI
21st December 2012
Hello everybody and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves.com (Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and action packed New Year) for today’s news on surfing and weather conditions from here on the always in holiday mode tropical surfing destination of BALI.
We had a pretty rough day of it again here on Bali’s West Coast. Knowing too well that that there wasn’t going to be a helluva lot of swell happening, a super early mid range high tide and the wind already fresh out of the WNW. We really had two choices with the first one being to surf at Canggu in 1-2ft+ waves, on shore wind, but no crowd. Or to go surf the East Coast with slightly bigger waves, off shore wind, but with a solid crowd factor at the locations that did have waves. So it was a pretty easy decision and Canggu got the votes.
There were a few small un tidy waves breaking on the left hand sand bar and on the right hand river mouth. But the numbers were good with only a grand total of 6 surfers on the sand bar and river mouth.
According to the charts (fingers crossed) tomorrow might just see a slight increase in wave height so hopefully we’ll find something worth taking a photo or two of.
Weather wise it’s been a mainly overcast type day and while we were up at Canggu this morning there were different solid rain storms that blew through us. But back here in Tuban the roads were still dry and now rain fell at all today.
Just a heads up for anyone who fly’s Garuda Airlines, especially the expats who normally use a 12 month “OPEN TICKET” (as it was once know as). I got an unpleasant surprise yesterday when I wanted to change a departure date for my up coming ear operation (getting closer thank %#$@). Normally this change of departure date has no costs involved, hence “OPEN TICKET” and one can, as expats / frequent travelers, need to do. But no more, for the date of my choice / need to depart, the cost was in Aussie dollars $220.00. Any other date was in US dollars $106.00, either one day either side. Go figure that if you can. I had no forewarning of the new costs until I hit the counter at the Garuda Airways office here in Bali. Like I said just a heads up for the frequent flyers.
Once again wishing all our sponsors and you guys and girls a very Happy Christmas and a perfect New Year !
