BALI
22nd – 23rd May 2012
Hello to all you surfers tuning back into the baliwaves.com (keeping the show on the road since 1999) for the latest news and some cool views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on every sane surfers first choice tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well yesterday the 22nd and we were hoping to find some waves over on the East Coast with our first stop being the ever famous Keramas beach. But even though we were on location at 7.00AM there were already 30+ surfers in the water and the waves were pretty ordinary at 2-3ft. From there we headed back down the coast a little way to find an empty line up and waves still coming through both left and right in the same size (chest to head high). So it was a no brainer where to go in for a paddle. I also shot a few random photos from around the island and have thrown these into the pot as well.
Today the 23rd and there was definitely more size showing on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban with 2-4 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions at the time were still clean and glassy with the wind coming lightly out of the North. Crowd levels at Kuta Reef were pretty low compared to years gone by but there was something a little out of the ordinary happening with 2 surf schools equiped with soft top mals out there. It was around 10.00AM the wind started to shift to the West and inccrease in strength but there were still some fun waves coming through for the 15 – 20 surfers out there.
Weather wise today it’s been a mostly hot and sunny day here in Tuban, while looking South down to the “bukit” there were some black and rain ladden clouds dumping hard rain. Now at 4.45PM the sky is clouded up and a big chance for more rain tonight. Even though here we are almost at the end of May and the Dry Season is still no where in sight. On shore wind has been the call here along the premier West Coast and no shortage on rain falling over night and into the early morning. Hopefully soon we’ll be feeling that Tradewind blowing hard on our backs.
Ok friends of Bali that’s me for another session but we have plans in place for an early session tomorrow morning so tune in again tomorrow to the original Bali surf report website, baliwaves.

Yeah Slim, great to see some local shots around the island. Love it. Besides the waves it is a magical place and the people and their culture is a very very special thing to experience. More shots like those make it great. Thanks mate. Hope all good with you and family.
