BALI
17th September 2013
Hi folks and welcome back to your baliwaves.com (the original Bali surf report website since 1999) for today’s news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Ok so yesterday the surf was pretty ordinary so we called a lay day here at Home Base, but I still managed to load ya’s up some stuff from G-Land and the Mentawai Islands.
This morning and we were expecting a little pulse in wave size and that’s exactly what went down. As it shows in today’s photo gallery we were down at Bali’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. Arriving just after the top of the tide this morning to find wave height rolling through in the 3-5ft class and around 30 surfers in the water. We just took our time and let a little more water run off the reef and then focus’d on the Racetrack section.
Surfing conditions were a untidy at first with the wind pretty much S-SSE before the off shore SE Trade wind started to kick in around 10.30AM. By this time there would have been close to 60 surfers spread from the Main Peak through to the Racetrack.
Weather wise we had a mostly clear and sunny one here on the holiday island today.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Bali; –1USD=Rp11,400 — 1AUD=Rp10,400 —

Hey Slim.
My thanks to you,my old Newy mate for your back up and support throughout the year.Have just put in a few solid months in The jungle of East Java at the Magical,Mechanical left hander at Plengkung known throughout the surfing world as G-land.Such a Mystical and Magical place.
Still after all these years it holds the mystique, seclusion and surf quality that most surfers desire.Truly a surfers paradise it is.
Enjoy my time there immensely and have met some great people from all around the world who visit the place.
Unfortunately on Aug 27 I was in a boating mishap there.I been pitched a few times in my surfing life, none as bad as that.I was not in control of the situation but came out OK,fractured hip,a few bits of thread to hold me together and good care from The Surfing Doctors and the G-Land community kept me level and soothed.Pretty harrowing time I must say.
Was on the mend and in good company whilst recovering in camp, was still able to hobble out and shoot some land shots.Just a few days short of being able to get back in the boat and under a lot of pressure, was asked to leave. That I did.Was a little gun shy to get back in the boat with the same Capt though.
Was nice to hit Bali and relax and recover.See my good friends again and pretty soon be back chasin a few at my favorite left just down the road.
Be good to catch up with ya mate and have a good yarn on the season. They say some things best left unsaid, but!!
My thanks to all my friends I met thru the past coupla seasons, your nice comments.I never forget.
Thanks Slim and Family.
