20th – 21st March 2014
Hello everyone and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com (delivering the goods from Bali since 1999) for the latest news and un beatable views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday, BALI.
Rightio, and welcome to the weekend in Bali. This current photo gallery we have on display was in fact captured last Friday the 20th, from over on the East side of the island. Seeing as though we scored perfect waves and conditions the previous day how could we not go back for another round. And we were not dissapointed. Wave height had dropped off a touch but there were still some solid 4 footers coming through on the Main break with something like 23 surfers in the water. While the morning surfing conditions were pristine and even an off shore wind for our crew.
Yesterday the 22nd and our morning surf check on the Outer reefs here in Tuban was showing smaller waves again but there were still some fun sized waist to head high sets on Middle Reef. The tide at the time was still too low for Kuta Reef and Airport Left.
The 22nd was also a day dedicated to another beach clean up, so that’s where my crew and I were starting at 7.00AM. We opted to meet up at Kuta Beach (turtle conservation center) one of the 3 designated rally points and were stoked to see at least another 30 locals had given up their Saturday morning to join in the campaign agaist rubbish here in Bali. I was dissapointed however to see that there was not one other westerner in attendance except for our team (big Lewie & Duggy from Tuban). I’m certain though that there would have been more westerners cleaning away up in the popular Padma St area. But all the same we were working side by side with the locals and at the end of the session I know Ketut and I had picked up between us at least 70kg’s of plastic food, shampoo, washing detergent packaging, plus 12 hyperdermic needle’s. I do have to say there was not one large plastic shopping bag in our collection. Like I’ve always said, it’s not the plastic shopping bags that are the problem here in Bali, it’s the smaller food and other type smaller plastic packaging doing the most damage.
This beach cleaning campaign will be continuing again through April so if you didn’t show up to play a part through March make sure you make up for it and turn up. Cause you know, many caring hands make light work and a beautiful beach.
Weather wise over the weekend we’ve had classic hot and sunny mornings with some cloud creeping in the early afternoon.
The next tide today (23rd) is going to be a 0.7mtr Low around 7.30AM
I’ve also received a stack of new photos from our friends at the Kandui surf resort up in the Mentawai islands and I’ll have those on line for you asap.
We’ll be heading out on a wave hunt shortly this morning so stay tuned to the original Bali surf report website and we’ll help get ya through the day.
