Ok first up I have to say MERDEKA or freedom to Indonesia, with today being the anniversary of their successful plight for Independence from the Dutch back on the 17th August 1945.

Second up, today we’ve got another huge 98 strong photo gallery for ya’s to check out featuring Uluwatu, Bingin and Balangan. You should be able to pick the different locations by now I reckon The Uluwatu and Balangan photos were shot by Ketut with our trusty old Nikon 300 f2.8 pre auto focus lens with Jessop 2x convertor. While the Bingin photos were delivered to our door step by our good old friends at EGO SURF PHOTOGRAPHY who are down there on location 364 days a year. So make sure next time your down at the pristine beach of Bingin drop in and say hello to the crew.

Yeah so while Ketut was… working I was out battling for dominance and face in yesterdays Airport Left / Patra beach sport fishing tournament. It was the first tourno put on by the “Patra Crew” and a big success with lots of fish caught, laughs, stories and a fantastic fish BBQ and drinks as the sun set over Airport Left. I’m already looking forward to next years event, yes I did manage to catch one small Spanish Mackerel and dropped another one when I missed the gaff shot. Thanks again to the Patra Crew for a great day !

This morning the 17th and my 7.30Am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height in the waist to chest high region between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was too low for KR or AL but there were 15 or so surfers riding Middle Reef. Wind direction was coming out of the ESE, clean off shore from Kuta Reef to Uluwatu at 7-10knot.

Ketut has taken our crew back down to Uluwatu again this morning to try and get the boys a little more size and power. He has phoned through at 9.00AM calling wave height in the 2-3ft range with a few freak slightly over head set waves. The tide was low when the boys arrived so the best waves were running down the Racetrack section. Get this, Ketut said there were 5 surfers on the Track, 5 on the Main Peak and another 6 at Temple’s. Must have been some good party’s on last night hey.

The next tide today here in Bali will be a 1.9mtr High around 2.15PM.

Weather wise out side we have a main sunny Sunday and right now at 9.30AM the temperature is on 26 degree’s Celsius and starting to warm up along the beach. Humidity level is ok at 72% and the wind is now SE at 9-12knot+.

Take care dept: especially in the Seminyak shopping area if your in bali as there has been a spate of “snatch and grab” thefts in this area over the last week. What ever you do don’t carry your passports and all your cash around with you. Especially if your staying in a half decent hotel or home stay and always keep your wits about you.
