BALI
27th – 28th January 2015
Hello surfers and welcome back to your baliwaves.com (The original Bali surf report website since 1999) for the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the only place to be, Bali.
So for starters we’ve got a mini 28 strong photo gallery for ya’s from where we were surfing yesterday. This place is not on the full guide book / Bali surfing websites radar yet so we refer to her as “Kapung pt”. Anyway we arrived over on the East Coast just as the tide was starting to push in. Wave height was breaking in the 2-4ft class, well over head on the set waves and fairly consistent. The inside section was delivering some sweet tube rides, the take off and bottom turn into a “didn’t touch the sides barrel” flick off type waves, only 4 surfers. While the main section was also handing out some fun waves in the 2-4ft range, and a few tube sections on offer as well. 12 surfers at first then not long after it was down to 7. By the time my crew hit the line up there were only 1 or two other surfers out there with them.
Weather wise on the East Coast is was 60 / 40 on the cloud to sunshine ratio but no rain. Temperature wise by midday it would have had to have been a very humid 30 degree’s Celsius.

This morning the 28th and my 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was one minute showing a mushy 2-2ft+ of wave between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Then the next moment obscured by heavy rain and strong Westerly wind at the time. There were a couple of my fishermen friends looking sad faced with the uncomfortable conditions.
Ketut has called in from over on the East Coast on location at “Secrets” and calling 2-2ft+ waves breaking on the beach break and A frame reef. With a total of 6 surfers in the water, wind off shore. Ketut said they also checked Keramas and there were 2-3ft waves there with only 12 surfers while the tide is heading towards the bottom of the Low
The next tide will be a 0.8mtr Low at 9.30AM
Right now at 8.30AM the rain has cleared up but the sky is still a little bit to dark colored to rule out any further chance of rain. Either way rain or not the temperature will still be around 30 degree’s Celsius by midday. Wind is still out of the West at 7-11knot with stronger gusts
Bali Fishing Scene, Seeing as though I haven’t up dated the baliwaves Sport Fishing Page up for awhile I thought I’d try something different and let ya’s know what’s happening out there. The last week my fishing crew have been killing it on the Spanish Mackerel and close to home at that. The average fish caught have been in the 3-7kg mark but there ‘s also been plenty of big fat and strong adult fish that have been well over the 10-12kg mark. These fish can take some super long runs and peel off a lot of line before they usually about face and run back at you trying to shake those hooks. I’ve seen plenty of hard winding to keep that line tight before your fish will decide to take another run and peel off some more line. The lure that has been getting the most strikes is a blue / black Rapala CD9. The small Bonito Tuna in the 1-3kg range have also been hitting the lures as well. Earlier in the week there had a solid thick run of “Long Tom” which are also not bad eating and can certainly put a good bend in your rod, using fish baits. We fish for the feel !
Don’t forget coming up next Saturday there will be another beach clean up happening so if your in Bali try and get down to one of the 3 locations and get involved. Contact us for more info

Hi Slim! about fishing i should read your feed back before coming off shore on my kayak in Carribean island . Because i got all my 200 yards line caught in a single run by a huge barracuda ( i think it was one) . Broke the line onto baking. I should read you before coming out fishing.:-)
