BALI – AUSTRALIA 10th February 2015
Hello everyone and thanks again for stoppin by the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since back in 1999). to see whats been happening surf wise over on the happy little tropical surfing holiday island called Bali.
Well not a helluva lot has been happening for me except that that I did get to catch up and hang out with a couple of old friends (David Tinson & Peter McCabe) for a few laughs. Other than that just getting some stuff taken care of and looking forward to be back surfing in Bali very soon.
Ketut has been busy as it shows getting us another gigantic gallery. With the light and variable winds the boys have been scoring the last few days Ketut’s been hanging out on the west Coast. Basically according to Ketut the surfs been real fun from Canggu to Uluwatu and all stops in between.
Wave height this morning on the Outer Reefs Left this morning was showing 2-2ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was low at the time, wind off shore out of the ENE and surfers riding waves on Middle Reef.
Weather wise Ketut reckons it’s been mostly blue sky and sun shine for the lucky boys and girls on holiday in Bali right now.
OK folks hang in there and we’ll have everything back under control before ya know it.
Bali Fishing Scene, Seeing as though I haven’t up dated the baliwaves Sport Fishing Page up for awhile I thought I’d try something different and let ya’s know what’s happening out there. The last week my fishing crew have been killing it on the Spanish Mackerel and close to home at that. The average fish caught have been in the 3-7kg mark but there ‘s also been plenty of big fat and strong adult fish that have been well over the 10-12kg mark. These fish can take some super long runs and peel off a lot of line before they usually about face and run back at you trying to shake those hooks. I’ve seen plenty of hard winding to keep that line tight before your fish will decide to take another run and peel off some more line. The lure that has been getting the most strikes is a blue / black Rapala CD9. The small Bonito Tuna in the 1-3kg range have also been hitting the lures as well. Earlier in the week there had a solid thick run of “Long Tom” which are also not bad eating and can certainly put a good bend in your rod, using fish baits. We fish for the feel !
