BALI
1st May 2015
Hi folks and welcome back to your baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions today from here on the World’s most popular tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
This mornings 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban (re Twitter) was showing a very slight improvement in wave height. The tide was still running in and at the time the wind coming out of the ENE. Actual wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left was in the waist to waist high plus sector. There was no surfers on Kuta Reef, a few out on Middle’s and it looked like there was a party or something happening down on Airport left with around 40 *surfers on it.
So we took our time hoping that wave height might keep bumping after the high tide passed before heading South down to Indonesia’s premier surfing location called Uluwatu. Arriving just after 9.00AM to find wave height in the 1-2ft range with a few freaky head high set waves breaking on the Main Peak. Crowd wise at the time it was still ok with maybe 40 surfers spread from the Peak down to Temple’s. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy for the best part of the morning with the wind turning more Southerly by midday. The crowd also went crazy indicating that there wasn’t any other waves to be had down that end of the island, peaking at 150+ on my final head count. A good day for the learners to say they surfed at Ulu’s I guess.
I was just about to head back down the beach for another check on the Outer Reefs but got stuck here at home due to some heavy rain. Fingers crossed we will see some more swell on our reef and beach breaks tomorrow. Hey but don’t worry cause there’s plenty in transit to Indonesia and it ain’t gunna be long and we’ll also be feeling that Tradewind on our backs and in our face.
Special hello to Mr Made Ropik and his brother Alik Rudiarta, plus all the Uluwatu Boardrider members.
