BALI
15th -16th- 17th June 2015
Hello surfers and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you covered in Bali since back in 1999) for the latest news and hard to beat views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s most popular tropical surfing holiday island that has something for just about everyone, Bali Indonesia.
Ok so today’s 57 strong photo gallery is mainly made up from Uluwatu when we were last down the on the 15th then there’s a hand full of photos from way up the coast at Balian yesterday the 16th. Plus there’s a few extra random photos in there as well, something I spotted at the supermarket last visit, a photo from a contributing surfer. There’s also a reminder to pick up your own limited supply baliwaves embroidered cap (truckers hat) to help keep ya in the shade.
On the 15th we were down at Uluwatu just after dawn and were pretty happy to find wave height hitting the head to well over head high class on the Temple and Main Peak sections. Surfing conditions were perfect with a light off shore wind (that actually swung on shore from the South around late morning) and only 12 surfers in the water at the time.
Yesterday the 16th and it was our 4th dawn patrol in a row, well actually it was pre dawn as we were up and on the road in transit up the coast to Balian at 4.40AM. Arriving on the scene just as the sun was lighting up the sky to find some perfect little waves in the 2-3ft and the wind clean off shore. It was great to catch up with some friends up there and just to make it even sweeter wave height picked up into the 3-4ft+ range as the tide pushed in. Even the drive up there on the Java super highway was un eventful both ways.
Today the 17th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height in the 2-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running in at the time and Middle Reef was picking up all the bigger and better waves. Surfing conditions were clean and glassy at the time.
Ketut has also phoned in from Canggu this morning (8.40AM) calling wave height in the waist to head high class on all 3 of the main breaks in this area. Surfing conditions are clean and tidy with the wind blowing light off shore. But there was a lot of surfer traffic up there this morning and understandably so. With our local surfers all tuning up for the up coming Quiksilver surfing contest being help up there this weekend. So if your in town and want to see and support our local boy and girl surfers make sure your there at Canggu this weekend
Weather wise yesterday there was a bit of cloud drifting around up the coast at Balian but mostly just warm and sunny Indo type weather. This morning here in Tuban there’s nothing but blue sky out there and shaping up for a nice one along the beach.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 2.5mtr High at 10.00AM followed by a 0.1mtr Low around 4.30PM Yesterday we also had a New Moon rise so expect some solid tidal differences over the next few days.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets on Bali yesterday; — 1US$=Rp13,220 — 1AU$=Rp10,275 — 1GBP=Rp20,115 — 1EU$=Rp14,875 — So with those rates you’d be crazy not to book yourself a trip to Bali right.
Ok friends have a good one and seeing as though I’ve worn out my guests with dawn patrols they have opted for a lay day today and get ready for our new swell that should hit Indonesia tomorrow if all stays on track. So I’ll try and answer that email you’ve been waiting for ok, stay tuned.
