BALI /INDONESIA
12th July 2015
Hi peeps and welcome back to your baliwaves (keeping you tuned up for your next Indo surf mission since back in 1999) for our Sunday session on surfing and weather conditions from the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Ok so like I said I got Ketut mobilized and packed him off to Uluwatu yesterday morning. So here’s the payday photos on his time down at Bali’s premier surfing location, 59 in total. Ketut was focusing on shooting the low tide Racetrack section at Uluwatu and it looks like it was lining up nicely.
Today the 12th and our 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left to have dropped back into the 1-3ft class. Surfing conditions at the time were clean and glassy with the wind light and variable.
We got Ketut moving again and sent him up the road a little ways to Canggu to catch the run out tide this morning. Our man has phoned through calling wave height in the 2-4ft class with a light off shore wind, so another good call was made. Ketut reckoned there were 20 or so surfers on the right hand river mouth and and and handfull on the Sandbar and Echo Left. So you can expect some more photos from Funggu later this evening.
The boys from EGO surf photography located down in front of the tubes at Bingin Beach have also called in this morning and dropped us another 40 photos that they shot yesterday on the lower end of the tide. So stay tuned to the original Bali surf report for those babies.
Weather wise outside here in Tuban this mornin we have a full blue sky and another typical holiday type of day over here. Right now at 10.30AM the temperature is a warm 29 degree’s Celsius with the Humidity on 86%. Wind direction is now light out of the East at 2-4knot.
The next tide here in Bali will be a 0.6mtr Low around 2.00PM
Ok first up it’s a bit of bad luck with Mt Raung in East Java couging up some smoke and ash causing the cancellation of many flights to and from Bali. I’ve been reading all the hardships of the poor people “stuck” here in Bali… what a shame hey hahahaha, fancy having to extend your holiday’s at an airlines expense, poor bastards. How about the surfers stuck in their own countries crying because they can’t get to Bali, there the one’s I’m feeling for. I think Denpasar airport is still closed this morning ? My tip for anyone wanting to fly to Bali is to avoid the “budget airlines” like a hole in the head. They normally don’t need an erupting volcano to cancel flights, they just do it anyway.
And don’t forget people if your going to work and make a living or existence here in Bali you need to have a working Visa (KITAS). Do the right thing and get that tax paid. I also don’t think shooting photos to sell to magazines or people is classed as “a hobby” Get on the program and support Indonesia.

Insurance isnt paying up! the poor buggers have to pay their own way and are missing out on work too so those few extra days in Bali are costing thousands of dollars.
Slim says
what do you mean insurance isn’t paying up… take it up with those budget airlines it’s their responsibility isnt it ?
Daniel baker says
That is right Slim, the insurance isn’t paying nor are the airlines. I am trying to get home to Bali, taking Shitstar flight to Melbourne and then hopefully to Bali. But before boarding the flight to Melbourne, they said, if the Bali flight from Melbourne is cancelled, you are on your own! So I will be sleeping in melbourne airport for a while…

Hi Slim..Big thanks for these reports and pics you keep pumping out.Super stuff to look at whilst freezing here in Oz..
Maybe it’s time people really looked at those budget priced flights. You get what u pay for, that”s why its budget. These folks are the ones that haggle over price and stay in big dollar hotels. The national airline of Indonesia,Garuda has always offered great service and Will fly for a price that is reasonable in this day and age.
I will be back and will fly Garuda as I always have done.
Keep up the Great work Slim,It is very much appreciated.
