Hello everyone and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (The original Bali surf report website since back in 1999) for our latest news and best views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on every sane surfers favorite tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
What we have in today’s 75 strong photo gallery is a combo of Medewi where we were yesterday and then the remainder of the photos we shot today up at Canggu, a;lso here on Bali’s West Coast.
Yesterday the 7th and we were up early and back on the road to Medewi and after a fairly un eventful 1 hour and 50 minute drive we arrived to find some clean little fun sized waves peeling off in the 2-3ft+ range. There was already 1 surfer in the water and the wind blowing fresh off shore. Our crew mostly had the main section to ourselves for a good 2-3hrs+ as the current was working in our favor. The crowd did peak around the 12 surfers mark but as usual there was a friendly vibe in the water. It was also pretty cool to have a constantly smoking live volcano in the back drop. Cool because it was still quite a distance from us, but it was happening on Bali.
The traffic situation on this main Bali – Java – Bali traffic route is starting to get thick again which is normal for this time of the year with Ramadan in process and then the forth coming holidays that follow. So if you are going to be on “the highway” take your time and be patient.
Today the 8th and we got off to a late start this morning due to me having some computer problems but eventually got moving and found our way to Canggu by 9.15AM just as the tide was starting to run in. Surfing conditions at the time were still nice and clean with the wind just starting to swing to the SE. But within the next 40 mins or so it increased to Trade wind strength and trashed the waves with a strong cross on shore direction.
Weather wise today it was a mostly cloudy and overcast type of day here on the holiday right through until early afternoon when the sun finally busted through and warmed things up. A real Bali winters day you could say.

The volcano is on Java not Bali. Jetstar cancelled flights.
hahahaha jetstar would love this as a reason to cancel more flights, normally they just cancel anyway, you’d have to be pretty thrifty to risk your holidays flying with them
