BALI / INDONESIA
16th – 17th May 2017
Hello everyone and welcome back to the baliwaves (bringing you a little bit of Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views from here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok so on the 16th wave height was at it’s worst but the boys still need to get wet right. So after a quick stop at Balangan (trying to avoid the numbers) but only finding it pretty much flat we motored on to Uluwatu. As it shows in the photos wave height was in the 2-3ft range with a couple of slightly over head freak sets thrown in. We surfed from the Main Peak to down at Temple’s while the tide was running in with a solid and very eager number of fellow and sister surfers.
Yesterday the 17th and wave height was doing a little better so went up the coast a little ways to Canggu and found wave height in the ead high class. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with a light off shore wind but once again with the smaller waves it was pretty busy crowd wise. As the tide peaked around midday there were also a few bigger 4 footers starting to break on the river mouth. I ‘ll cut some photos out from Canggu that Ketut shot later when we get back from today’s surfing adventure. I finally received the call to get into the immigration office to get my photos and prints done for my new work KITAS visa yesterday so I spent the morning with a bunch of mostly feral looking people. But the good news is I should have my passport back within the week and ready to get over to Singapore and the land of camera’s and lens.
Weather wise it’s been hot and sunny with no rain in sight. Midday temperatures have been hot up in the low 30’s on the Celsius scale.
This morning the 18th and right now it’s just gone 4.30AM and the boys are getting their boards together for a run up the West Coast to Jembran. So stay tuned for more news and up dates through out the day.

Just a few questions for you. How come you don’t have shots of the action on the reefs off Tuban all that much?
Being on the wrong side of 60, would the ‘captains’ of the boats to the reefs allow me to bring a boat ladder? I will gift it to them when I leave.
I will be in Bali from the 21 – 25 September this year and I am staying in Seminyak and I was wondering if i can book a day or two with your daily surf trips?
Great web site, I’m always checking to see what is happening.
Thanks,
Andrew
