BALI / INDONESIA
14th – 15th July 2017
Hello everyone and welcome to the weekend here on the baliwaves (keeping surf reports real since back in 1999) and our latest news and the best views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the only sane choice for your next tropical surfing holiday, Bali.
Well I’m just going to try and keep this short and sweet seeing as though it’s Saturday afternoon ok. Here’s some photos that we shot down at Uluwatu yesterday, it’s been tough without our man Ketut on board the last week (no surfing for me stuck behind the lens) but hopefully he will be back with us as soon as he does what he has to do. Uluwatu yesterday was smallish but fun and hows the guy pulling into the back door right hand barrel and getting spat out, pretty sick.
Today the 15th and my 6.45AM surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing wave height to have picked up into the 2-5ft class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The wind, off shore, was already up out of the ESE and winding up into the 15 – 20knot range already. By the time me and my friends got out there wave height had jacked again with the in coming tide to 3-6ft+. We settled for Kuta Reef and there was some nice double suckers hitting the living coral reef. But the wind was just a bit too fierce, trying to blow ya off the back of the wave every time. I also tested my bungy cord on one of the set waves, glad it held out and I never bounced off the reef.
I also had a friend text me from down at Uluwatu where he had been surfing the Bombie section and he was calling 6-10ft and my friend calls it good. Maybe around dark later this afternoon there might even be a few breaking at Padang Padang but the tides are not really good for it.
Weather wise it’s been nothing but blue sky and sun shine here in South Kuta. Temperature wise it would have hit the 29 degree Celsius mark easily.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban, –1AU$=Rp10,200 –1US$=Rp13,200 — So right now is a good time to be over here in Bali taking advantage of perfect waves, weather and a smoking hot exchange rate.

Hi slim. For the first time in Bali I am actually stuck and struggling getting to the breaks. Only because wife decided that the Le meridian jimbaran bay would be nice to stay at. It is but….. do you know anyone that takes surfers out by boats from this area to airport lefts Etc. i don’t have a car or bike and I have not tried the taxis. And hotel not have shuttle. Gee it’s only 14 km to ulu’s but seems like 1000’s
Thanks
Steve from nz
Hi Steve, you might find a fishing boat on Jimbaran beach down towards the fish market that can run you out to the reefs when the wind is not too strong and the tide just right.
