BALI / INDONESIA
6th – 7th August 2017
Hi peeps and welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping Bali surf reports real since back in 1999) for the start of another surfing week. Not to mention our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok here we go again and today’s photo gallery comes from Indonesia’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. As it shows Ulu was solid up there in the 6-8ft+ class on some of the bigger set waves. There was a lot of water moving with the high tide through the morning, I think it would have been much more surfable as the tide dropped out. The toughest thing would have been trying to get in and out through the cave with a big high tide, strong sweep and swell. That’s why when Outside Corner is on it’s always surfed on the lower end of the tide so you can get out there and not deal with a cave full of hidden dangers. Only 7 surfers were out yesterday and it did look tough so hats off to the surfers that got out there.
This morning the 7th and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height to have settled down into the 2-4ft class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy at the time before the SE Trade Wind kicked into gear. There were surfers out on all 3 of the main sections with Middle Reef picking up the bigger set waves.
As you might have noticed I’ve also loaded up a new report and a handful of photos from our friends at Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp and it looked pretty darn perfect over there last swell. Now with the swell starting to settle down it is a perfect time to get over there so contact us here at baliwaves if you want to save some serious money with big big discounts going down.
Weather wise it’s been nice to see the blue sky back over us and right now at 1.00PM the mercury is sitting on 29 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 75%. Wind direction is coming out of the SE (Trade Wind) at 18 – 22knot. We also have a Full Moon rising tonight so get ready for some big tidal ranges over the next few days.
Looking at the swell situation my call will see wave height dropping off through until the 10th when we should have a new system moving in with some medium sized waves through the 10th -11th then backing off again on the 12th. Then maybe sometime late on the 13th another swell generating system will smack into Bali peaking on the 14th and into the 15th, slightly bigger again than the last. That’s about as far out as I want to predict especially after the last 2 swells that never lived up to their predictions by the experts.
Alright then I would like to give warning to all the parents that are bringing their toddlers to Bali and want to stay in the perfect villa set up. Just a few days back there was a tragic drowning of an Australian 3yr old here in Bali in a villa pool. Please take care as there are no such things as safety fences or gates for kids here in Bali in villa’s. And any parent knows how hard it is to keep track of their little ones every second of the day. So please take this into consideration.
Another important issue for the locals here in Bali especially with winter going down in the Southern Hemisphere and the season for super flu in Australia. Please don’t bring flu’s and virus strains with you on holidays. Make sure you get to the Doctor first before getting on the plane and infecting all the passengers and then maybe infecting everyone you come in contact with here in Bali. You wouldn’t go to work with the Flu so don’t bring it to Bali please.

Superflu..
Just got tested the Doc said there are 24 strains hitting Sydney at the moment, said he’d SMS the results.
Swab up the nose, sent to lab. Then gave me a history lesson on the Spanish flu outbreak… Stay away from food courts I’m thinking now
Thanks for the comment my man, yes this is a bad time (catch 22) for us in Bali with the flu season and lots of visitors coming over here. We don’t normally get the flu only when it comes in on a plane and then half the island gets it. We have been lucky so far keeping the immune system topped up. Have a great day Old Finn
