Hello everyone and thanks for checking out the baliwaves (your eye’s in Indo since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Ok so as I mentioned in our last up date we were up in the foot hills of Mt Agung on the 23rd for 3 weddings in our family town of Datah (Br Bingin). This little village is pretty close to Mt Agung as it shows in the later half of today’s photo gallery. The folks that I talked to said the mountain has been letting off steam for awhile now but the tremors have pretty much all but stopped. There was non that we could feel through out the morning and afternoon while we were on location.
It is really nice to get back to the mountains and catch up with all our family and friends. To me it seems like as soon as I turn off the small main road and start driving up up up that we pass through into another dimension where we go back in time. No cars or noise, no rubbish and pollution, no hawkers trying to scam ya for a dollar. There’s no mini marts or even warungs for that matter just serenity and very down to Earth Balinese. no other Indonesians from other islands at all, just pure Balinese Hindu. Just like it must have been back before tourists started to come here.
Yesterday the 24th and we were back on the wave hunt and did manage to find some fun size waves with semi clean conditions here on Bali’s West Coast. Wave height as it shows was only in the 2-3ft class but as the tide did start to fill in there might have been a few slightly over head set waves. Crowd wise it was pretty low through until the midday circus started to arrive and that was about the time that the wind start to get stronger out of the South.
This morning the 25th and so far we have a mostly blue sky and right now at 8.00AM the temp is on 26C with the Humidity at 89%. Hardly a breath of wind that I can see out my window and it is predicted to be light ESE – SE through out the day, time will tell I guess. Wave height is going to be pretty small but we already have a plan of attack and do plan to get in for a paddle a little later this morning, even us big old guys can have fun if you have the right equipmebnt and the right mind set, right.
On the swell forecasting scene it’s looking red hot for a new swell to start to show on Saturday some time and then gradually keep building through Sunday and Monday. Then rolling through right on the back of the this system there looks to be a bigger swell coming in that will light up the reefs of Indonesia for a couple more days, maybe more behind that one as well. So it looks like late season Bali / Indo is going to be the place to be if your after perfect waves.
