Hello everyone and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping you up to date with Bali’s surfing scene since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from no where other than the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Alright so this morning we knew it was going to be pretty good and we also knew we were not going to have to travel far from home here on the West Coast of Bali. Arriving on location at 6.45AM to find 3-4ft+ waves peeling off with no wind present just pure glass. The tide was running out pretty quick so it wasn’t long before we only had a couple of feet clearance from the reef, just meant no falling off right. I do have to say it was pretty fricken good and it’s been awhile since I clocked up a 20+ wave count in a 2 hour session, taking turns with a couple of surfers.
Just before I went in I was unlucky enough to be the victom of a “push in KOOK” There’s a couple of photos in the gallery. Late 20’s European girl on high volume board, I called twice that I was going but she had absolutely no idea or for the record should not have even been anywhere near these type of shallow bottom waves. She took off jumped into the surf school stance and went straight, she almost got me. She did ruin a good wave but at least I did run straight over her board, which kinda helped a little.
NB. if your getting pushed into waves and your over 10yrs old your a KOOK.
Weather wise it’s been a mostly hot and sunny day here in Bali and right now at 2.50PM the temperature is still a warm 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 75%. Wind direction is now coming out of the WSW at 8=13knot.
Need Tide information ? then check out our January Tide Chart thanks to Peter Neely / Indo Surf & Lingo
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban, –1US$=Rp13,400 –1AU$=Rp10,470 –EU$=Rp16,100 As I mentioned before, usually on Monday the money exchanging vendors raise the rates to somewhere close to the normal exchange rate again after lowering them for the weekend “penalty rates” There are also still a lot of “rip off” money exchangers in Bali so be highly cautious of any exchangers offering above normal exchange rates !
While your here make sure you check out all our sponsors / advertisers and help us by supporting them as well, thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves

Slim, I too have had a gut full with the pushin surf schools now at Kuta Reef, second Kuta Reef etc. Getting dropped in on, hit, board dinged…can’t they learn in the beach breaks? What can be done about it?
not much can be done I'[m sorry except we can all continue to call the kooks being pushed into waves KOOKS
Nice Photos, especially the last couple. hopefully no injuries.
Think the only thing you can do is wait till it gets bigger and the waves crush them!
no injuries Reg, just a couple of scratches on my leg and a nice long fin chop down her board from my single fin 🙂
