BALI / INDONESIA
3rd – 4th June 2018
Hello everyone and welcome back to the baliwaves (keeping you in the loop with Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and the best possible views on surfing and weather conditions from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so here’s ove 110 photos from yesterdays finals of the Corona Bali Protected at Keramas beach over on the East side of the island. A big thanks to Ketut who spent the morning over there toughing it out in the sun to get these photos. Pretty much just the same as the last Pro event here in bali if any photographers wanted to cover the best angle of the waves at this place your out in the open on the black sand beach. As the tide fills in there is no where else to shoot from unless your standing in the water or a tedious straight on view.
But anyway as these photos show the surfing that went the both the mens and womens finals was red hot and solid as we expect from these elite high profile surfers. And what a way to earn 100 grand, Congratulations to Lakey Peterson and Italo Ferreira, gotta be the best job going I reckon. Next stop Uluwatu, see ya’s there.
This mornings 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was still showing some fun sized 2 -4 footers breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left and I’d also have to Airport Right. The tide was on the bottom at the time so Middle Reef was looking the best option for a paddle. The wind was already coming out of the ESE with a nice fresh off shore breeze on it.
Weather wise our day started off pretty good with plenty of blue sky, but from around midday we started to see some light cloud filling in. Right now at 4.35PM we have a mostly overcast sky with the temperature sitting on 28 degree’s Celsius, Humidity level is at 72%. Wind direction is now light and back out of the SE-ESE
I had to make my yearly visit to Bali’s Immigration office this morning for a photo and finger print session for my KITAS work visa. On arrival I met my friend who works in the office and he told me that the system was temporarily down and to hang in there until it was on line again. No worries I says, but you should have seen some of the ratty scraggy dressed westerners in there and the sour unimpressed looks on their faces for having to wait and the constant complaints. The Bali Immigration office should start enforcing their dress code for foreigners I thinks.
