BALI SURF REPORT, Middle Reef to Uluwatu 3rd – 4th July 2018

Hi folks and thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping Bali surf reports real since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.

Alrighty then yesterday the 3rd and with wave height still down in the 2 foot class here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban, but with perfect surfing conditions. We though we had better take a run back down to Uluwatu to catch the last of the low tide on the Racetrack section. As it shows in our latest photo gallery it was well worth the road time. Wave height at Uluwatu was in the chest to head high plus class with waves breaking on all 3 of the main sections from Temples down through to the Racetrack. As you can imagine with most other locations a touch small there was a solid crowd of all types in the water by around 10.30AM.

I hope some of the new learner surfers are reading this cause I’ll say it again. Uluwatu even when it’s only head high still is a hard breaking wave onto an ancient lava flow bottom. With the now.. Asian explosion into surfing but with nada ocean experience I think the life guards all over Bali are going to be soon earning their money big time.

Weather wise yesterday there was some sunny patches between the clouds. Temperature wise the midday mercury would have peaked at just under 30 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction was out of the ESE with gusts of up to 15knot+.

This morning the 4th and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing a nice little bump in wave height. The tide was pretty well on the bottom of the Low so only Middle Reef was surfable at the time and there was some chest to head high plus set waves getting in there.

Ketut is back down at Uluwatu with the 600mm and called through calling wave height in the head to well over head high class and some smokers burning down through the Racetrack while the tide was out.

Weather wise there’s a lot more blue sky for us beach lovers today and right now at 11.35AM the temperature is on 29 degree’s Celsius. Wind direction is out of the ESE – SE at 10-15knot+

The next tide today will be a 2.1mtr High at 12.57PM

Hmmm lots of stuff happening all around Bali again, some good and some not so good. If anyone has been tuning into FB.. I’m sure you’ve seen the mention of yet another new development happening at the Canggu / Pererenan river mouth. There’s also a big “project” happening to extend the runway of Bali’s international airport with thousands of tonnes of sand being dredged and then pumped straight over part of the living coral reef just mtrs South from the World acclaimed surf break of Airport Left. Yep a lot of controversy, and where will it all end.
