Hello again people and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves (keeping Bali surf reports real since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views. From right here on the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.

Yesterday the 9th and we were up pre dawn and in transit to our primary location of Canggu. Arriving at 6.30AM to find wave height a nice chest to well over head high and the wind light and clean off shore. Crowd wise it was too bad (at the time) either with only half a dozen surfers on the sandbar and a dozen or so on the river mouth. Or maybe I should say ex-river mouth. Yesterday the excavators were hard at work sealing off the river and building a rock wall right in front of the famous Pererenan river mouth wave. The rock wall was right on the high tide line so it’s not going to be doing us surfers any favors I don’t think.

It was around 10.00AM that the ESE-SE Trade wind kicked in at Canggu turning the wind on shore and taking the shine off the morning gloss. By that time the tide was running out and getting a bit rocky on the river mouth and the sand bar filling up with learners on sof tops. But still a couple of lefts for the late arrivers to be found.

Just as we stepped down out of the car yesterday at home after our day at the beach the ground had another quick 3-5 second tremor here in Tuban. But that equates to a big tremor over in Lombok. I also watched a short video clip from an Australian relief worker helping out over there and things look very serious for the people of Lombok. Hundreds already dead and more than a Thousand seriously injured. 90% of building in most parts destroyed and people in need of help. So please only go to Lombok if your on an aid mission, not for a surf mission ! and all you surfers that frequent the island I hope your digging deep with donations.

Weather wise yesterday it was warm and sunny here on the holiday island of Bali
