Yesterday the 23rd and after my 6.20am surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban was showing some 1-2ft+ waves breaking between Kuta reef and Airport left we thought we’d take a run back down to the South end of the island and try ducking the crowd while the tide was running down. Our ploy worked well and ended up finding some perfect fun sized peelers in the chest to over head class. The tide was low and it was pretty shallow but nothing too serious with those sized waves. There was absolutely no pressure with only 3 surfers in the water for the first hour and a half.
Today the 24th and my 6.30am surf check on the Outers wasn’t looking real promising at all. it was looking pretty flat with the occasional knee to waist high set breaking between Kuta Reef and Airports. Surfing conditions were clean with a light ESE wind. But there were also boat loads of learners surf schools bee lining it out there. Better off taking a swim today or maybe go have a look around this fascinating little Hindu island.
Weather wise out side it’s a top day with blue sky all over. Right now at 10.10am the temperature is already a warm 27C with the Humidity on 79%, Uv index is on 7. Wind direction is coming almost straight out of the East with gusts up to 22km/h.

Bali Travel Tip
Mosquitoes are a real worry and do not discriminate between 5 star Hotels or your humble Guest House, so be smart!
This one is very important especially if you want to have a good nights sleep and not be worried about mosquito born diseases. After checking into your accommodation take a walk to the nearest warung (if you can find one) or mini mart and purchase a can of insect spray and some personal insect repellent. Before you go out for lunch or dinner make sure you put on some personal repellent, especially on your exposed legs. Then spray your room and go out for awhile. Also make sure you keep your room door shut, only open it to enter or exit so no mosquitoes can let themselves in. The total cost for the mosquito protection will be under Rp30,000 so do yourself a favor and be mosquito smart in Bali.
