BALI / INDONESIA
19th – 21st October 2019
Hello surfers and lovers of Bali and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bringing you all the good things from Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Alright I had to take it easy over the weekend so sorry no Bali reports just a couple of Twitter video up dates. On the 19th the family and I spent the day, or most of it up in the mountains at our family village in Karangasem. So after a fairly intense amount of time on the road I needed a lay day at home yesterday and to recoup from the Lau consumed.
Today the 21st and the day kicked off nicely with mostly blue sky and light variable wind. The Low tide was happening around 9.30am so I thought I’d take a run up to Canggu and see what was going down on the Sandbar section which can handle the lower end of the tide. As it shows in the photos by the time I battled through the Canggu traffic the wind had just starting to swing to the SSE-SE, light cross / on shore.
Crowd wise it wasn’t too bad with around 30 surfers riding the sand bottomed left and rights. Even tough wave height was only in the chest to slightly over head high class there were some solid beatings dished out from the dredging waves, I’m sure most surfers would have taken some sand home with them. The wind kept getting stronger and by 10.00AM it was blowing pretty hard and I packed up. I’d also say it would have gotten a lot more crowded as I passed plenty of surfers on the way out heading in.
Weather wise out side right now at 2.05pm it’s mostly all blue sky with the afternoon temperature sitting on 31 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 71% and the UV index on 11. Wind direction is still coming out of the SSE – ESE quadrant with gusts up to 30km/h.
One thing that really stood out today on the drive in through Canggu was the amount of Ambulance / Emergency room clinics that have opened in the area, I think I counted 5 or 6 all pretty close together. Supply and demand is usually how it works un fortunately. So remember if your coming to Bali and want to party make sure your not riding home drunk on a motorbike. Times have changed when you could ride around and make it home after a few drinks, these days there is 300% more traffic on the road and 80% of it all buzzing around on automatic scooters, most of it un licensed and no idea of road rules or etiquette. Don’t chance it !
