BALI / INDONESIA
10th – 11th December 2019
Hello surfers and lovers of Bali and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bringing you all the good things from Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok yesterday the 10th and we were back out there and looking for waves. With not much happening down here on the Southern end of the island we knew we would have to hit the road and head back up the coast for any chance of finding a half decent wave. And that’s what we did. Arriving at our destination to find some super clean and glassy 2-4 footers with only a handful of surfers in the water. Conditions stayed that way for a good two and half hours, just long enough to get the job done and everyone happy again.
Today the 11th and with no early morning surf check or even a yesterday afternoon sun set beer surf check we made the call and headed for the other side. Expecting to find a new swell delivering on the run in tide. Conditions were perfect and the wind light off shore but our new swell only amounted to chest to slightly over head (2-4ft). Not a lot of hollow ones this morning but still some nice walls on offer. There was no shortage of surfers (as per our morning surf n weather video report) with close on 30 surfers in the water. But as the wind started to swing light on shore and the tide fill in the numbers dropped away to 10 – 12 and still plenty of waves coming through.
Weather wise it was another brutally hot day over on the East coast and probably right across the board here in Bali. The beach was definitely the place to be. The wind went from light North to light South and then right around to West back here on the West Coast by midday.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to be pretty much the same as today and more clean / light and variable wind through the morning.
Our friend Mr Steve Pivetta has also sent us through a couple of old photos he took back in the 70’s one featuring his old lost friend and Bali surfing legend Mr Gede Namada and the other of a very quite and peaceful looking Kuta Beach. Steve is trying to get back in contact with his old friend so if anyone know’s how to contact Gede please let Steve know. I used to regularly bump into Gede out at Kuta Reef but haven’t seen him for awhile myself.
Please contact Steve Pivetta
