BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
3rd – 4th March 2020
Hello surfers (KEEP READING BELOW) and lovers of Bali and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bringing you all the good things from Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so well as you can imagine it’s been tough for Bali standards surf wise over here the last few days. It’s been small and pretty lifeless with only 1-2ft waves with only the early mornings surfable if your a grommet or weigh under 50 kg’s, and I’m neither by a long shot so it’s been hard on us older blokes.
My 6.30am surf check on the Outer Reefs this morning was showing exactly as I had already pictured it. One footers at best breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left with the wind light on shore out of the W-WNW. The tide was running down for a no range 1.0mtr Low that happened around 9.30am. Since then the wind has just increased in strength and dedicated more to the W-WSW and not much good for anywhere.
Weather wise we had some heavy rain lasting just about all night. But that has cleared up for now or I should say has stopped raining for now cause it’s been mostly over cast all day.
I have found some video footage that our friend Bojes shot for us around mid January that I hadn’t see so I thought I’d stitch a new video clip together for you. It features waves from both sides of the island. But I tell ya I’m looking forward to some solid waves at Ulu and clean greeny blue water color that Bali’s West coast is famous for.
I’ve just cut a few frames for some photos, hopefully we’ll get some decent waves and we’ll get some decent photos / video
Changing dollars to Rupiah there’s been a small spike with the US$ going back up to Rp14,100 and the Aussie buck back to Rp9,150
I was up in Kuta last night having dinner with a friend at my fav Sushi Resto and on the way back home around 7.00 pm I couldn’t help but notice how busy Jalan Legian was with what mostly appeared to be Aussies. When all the Indo media is saying that tourism is down 80% My take on that is all the new Chinese hotels are empty and there has been a BOOM in that department over the last 5 years. Just about every new Hotel is Chinese owned here in Bali so that would make a lot of these “new hotels” empty and in turn show the low occupancy numbers. I think surfers will always keep coming to Bali, especially if there’s a chance of scoring un crowded waves.
Ok that’s me again for now but stay tuned with us via our Instagram and FB pages for just that little bit extra goodness out of Indonesia.
