BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
23rd May 2020
Firstly we do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia. So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves.
We are surfers doing this for our fellow surfers and will hopefully continuing to do our thing for many years to come. If anyone can spare any contribution to baliwaves to help us it would be greatly appreciated, please contact me on how to do so. Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop.
Hi everyone and thanks for joining us here on the baliwaves.com. Indonesia’s first surfing website and still leading the way with original Bali surf reports. If you didn’t already know Bali’s beaches are still officially closed to the public. Hopefully we will learn more news and developments on the closure situation come the 29th of May. Fingers crossed we will all be allowed to get some waves again and not just a select few.
I’ve had another dig into our archived photo files and found (going down the list) some cranking waves from the East Coast’s Keramas back before there was a 100+ room hotel built right in front of the wave. This photo gallery was captured in August of 2011, but a lot has changed in Bali over the last 10 years.
Today the 23rd and carrying on from the best part of last week the wind is still light and variable from the Western quadrant and probably still a few more days of it are predicted. According to Face Book there have been some perfect waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left and Right. No shortage of local and Tourists in the water and one of my friends who ferries surfers out to the reef was say there was more than 40 surfers on Kuta Reef mid week. There has been a lot of rain to go with the on shore wind so later this afternoon I will be heading down to the beach to bail the water out of my boat and get a surf check in.
Weather wise today the over night rain cleared up early and it’s been a hot and sunny one since day break. Light and variable wind out of the West. Right now the temperature is a hot 31 degree’s (1.10pm).
Swell Forecast, The charts are still on track showing a moderate sized swell to start to show here in Bali on the 25th – 26th. Then flooding in right on the back of that swell a larger swell should slam into us around the 28th of May. This one should hold and slowly back off through till the 30th and then not long there after another smaller swell is scheduled to arrive. Further out in the Indian Ocean there is another big system coming past South Africa and will hopefully travel all the way up to us the first week of June. This could work in perfectly if the Government allows the beaches to re open.
Don’t forget Boardriders Surf Shop at Echo Beach / Canggu are giving you the chance to win a New Surfboard, simply spend Rp25,000 in the shop on the already heavily discounted surf hardware and accessories and go in the draw. Drawn on the 29th of May so hurry up.
Joyo’s G-Land Surf Camp are offering a buy 3 days and get 3 days for free offer with open use by dates right through 2021. So contact us first and score the deal of a lifetime for the trip of a lifetime. Once you go into The Jungle, you will return again.
Our Surf Fit Guru Mr Clive Rodell has also put together an essential Fitness Manual that breaks down into layman terms how to keep your body in tip top condition that will keep you surfing well into retirement. He also goes in depth into how to manage and fix all those niggling annoying injuries that we tend to accumulate. So check it out and ask Clive for more information and how to get your hands on it. Contact Clive directly for more information [email protected]
