BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
1st – 2nd June 2020
Firstly we do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia. So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves. Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop.
Hello People and welcome back to your baliwaves and your eye’s and ears here on the ground at the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination. Ok so yesterday the 1st of June I was back down the beach here in Tuban slowly making a little more progress getting my old fishing boat sea worthy. I did post a video report on our @baliwaves Twitter and instagram feeds, some of you would have seen. But anyway if you didn’t there was a few small and very windy waves breaking out on the Outer Reefs. Wave height was only in the 2-3ft or waist to head high class with maybe a couple of slightly bigger set waves hitting Middle Reef.
Good news and bad news today for everyone here in Bali. Well slowly and surely the beaches are getting re opened. Canggu and Padang Padang (area) have been given the go ahead, also Pandawa beach and possibly a couple of other locations have been cleared. There was also “talk” of Kuta and Legian beachesin o preparation to also soon follow suit.
The bad news is that Bali has has it’s highest number of Corona Virus infections recorded over the last 2 days. Yesterday there was 17 new cases across the island with only 2 of the regions on the island free from new infections. There was also 2 new deaths recorded in the last 24hrs. You can find more info on Bali and Indonesia’s situation in our Bali LocK Down blog on the baliwaves.
Today’s Photo gallery skips to Round 4 of the Oakley Pro that went down at Keramas in my opinion of one of the best days seen at Keramas. The year the ASP/WSL really came to town. The year a young Balinese surfer from Lembongan shocked the World and surfed against Kelly Slater. To this day @Putra Hermawan is the only Indonesia surfer to have ever surfed a Round 4 heat of a CT contest. Putra was also sadly dropped by RipCurl not that long ago.
Weather wise here on the island of the Gods last night we were storm / rain free, it has been pretty wild the last few nights with some violvent thunder and lightning storms. Today the 2nd we have a mostly sunny day out there and heading for a high of 31 degree’s Celsius. The wind is blowing hard out of the E-ESE with gusts around the 20knot mark. The next tide today will be a 0.6mtr Low at 1.47pm.
I am heading back down for a boat and surf check later this morning so I’ll post another short video up date on Twitter and Insta when I get down there. But I’d be expecting to see wave height almost the same as yesterday plus or minus a touch.
