BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
17th June 2020
Firstly we do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia. So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves. Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop.
baliwaves.com is happy to be able to give our friends at JOWA SURF a little love with some promo on us. As we mention above times are tough and we are here to help any small local business with a little more awareness through baliwaves.com
Hello friends and thanks for taking the time out to see what’s happening here on your favorite surfing holiday island of Bali. Well that’s a good question right. It seems like the beaches are being opened and then closed and then re opened and then re closed. Although from all reports I’ve been receiving is that there are a range of beaches open officially or not officially, but seem to be ok for a quick paddle and soak up a little salt water and sun.
Today’s photo gallery takes us back to Uluwatu in October of the year 2010. A couple of local legends in there with Mr Made lana and Mr Ketut Pitur plus a couple of well know International surfers that can still be most days found down at Uluwatu.
Here at ground level in Bali not much has changed and things are still relatively quite, especially down our end of town in South Kuta. It’s pretty much “brown bread” right through Kuta and Legian until you get up into the Seminyak to Canggu region, where it’s crazy busy seeing as though we are still in the grip of a World wide pandemic. So far in Bali there are already 16 know westerners infected with the COVID-19. There has been no information as to the area’s these 16 were or are but we can only imagine.
It’s also not looking real good for Bali / Indonesia being re opend to the International travel / holiday scene very soon. The last 8 days or so Indonesia has seen record numbers of infections with over 1,000 new cases per day. Bali has also had her highest number of recorded new cases, the curves are still going the wrong way.
Weather wise here in Bali we are still regular over night rain with mostly hot sunny days. The ESE-SE Trade wind has also kicked back in hard with gusts up into the 20knot range. We are also heading towards a New Moon coming up on the 20th so we will be seeing the tidal ranges getting bigger over the next week.
Good News Dept is that our man Kadek will be coming back to the baliwaves in a few more days and he plans on getting out around the traps with the video gear and shooting us some fresh footage.
On the Bali Aid department our good friend Nicole Polley is organizing a worthy fundraiser that is targeting the needy. A great way for friends with friends here in Bali to lend a hand. Take a look at what Nicole and her friends are doing and maybe there is some one you know here in Bali that needs your help.
