BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
6th – 7th July 2020
Firstly, Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop. We do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia.
So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves.
baliwaves.com is happy to be able to give our friends at JOWA SURF a little love with some promo on us. As we mention above times are tough and we are here to help any small local business with a little more awareness through baliwaves.com
Hello again Bali friends and thanks for dropping into the original Bali surf report website (since 1999). Well yesterday the 6th and wave height was still down in the 1-3ft range here on the Outer reefs of Tuban. There were a few waves out on Middle but for the very few that braved it they had to also deal with a howling off shore ESE Trade wind with gusts over 20knot. Let me tell you from first hand experience that due to the reefs being at least 600-700mtrs off shore that open area of water inside the reef gives the wind enough un blocked area to really open the throttle and unrestricted. Which in turns make for super bumpy waves. Every turn that you do the wind just tries to blow you off the back and turn your board into a spinning missile. I guess the blood red stinging eyes are the lesser of the cons involved.
Today the 7th and not a lot of change in wave height earlier this morning but I have had a heads up from our friends at Bali Swell down at Bingin that wave height did seem to be slightly improving on yesterday. Hopefully they guys will send us through some photos later this afternoon as the tide drops out. Surfing conditions on my morning surf check at 7.30am were not too bad with the wind still only light out of the East and the tide running in for a 2.4mtr High around 11.00am. Since then the Tradey has kicked in and blowing hard with gusts in the 15-18knot plus range. The next Low tide today will be a dry reef exposing 0.1mtrs at 5.35pm.
Now, today’s photos I thought would fit the bill with what we have in transit to Bali. These were shot back in 2011 and pure free surfing with some solid set waves up there in the perfect Padang Padang range of 6-8ft (Bali wave scale). I thought I’d do a visual SWELL FORECAST today thanks to our friends at STORMSURF (the most accurate swell forecast for Indonesia in my experience). So take a good look at the last 4 images I loaded into the gallery.
On the Bali Corona Virus situation we are still pretty much in the dark in regards to testing numbers for Bali, although the national numbers are available (Worldometer.info). Nationally Indonesia has had 64,958 positive case recordings with 29,919 of these having fully recovered and sadly 3,241 deaths. Here in Bali the island has seen 1900 positive recorded cases with 974 of them fully recovered. Sadly again we have seen the death toll here in Bali grow quite a lot over the last couple of weeks, now at 23.
There has been reports of re starting Bali with a 3 step phase, starting on the 9th of July. That would see government offices, restaurants public services, beaches etc re opening. Then following at the end of the month with domestic tourism re opening. Further out the re opening of Bali to the International community is scheduled for the 11th of September. But it has been stressed these steps are all dependent on the control and containment of the Corona Virus. At this stage it appears to be an each way bet. Many countries World wide that have tried to re open and get back to some kind of normal now seem to be back with more surges of infection and more strict lock down laws in place.
Ok thanks again to everyone supporting the baliwaves and we always try to keep our news original and real.
ATTENTION DEPARTMENT, On the Bali Aid cause our good friend Nicole Polley is organizing a worthy fundraiser that is targeting the needy. A great way for friends with friends here in Bali to lend a hand. Take a look at what Nicole and her friends are doing and maybe there is some one you know here in Bali that needs your help, The real reality of it is, if you know someone here in Bali through being on holiday then those people are battling to keep food on the table and the house lights on. Please if you can drop a couple of bucks into Nicole’s account. Nicole is helping a lot of people at ground level, I know personally as my family received a basic food relief package as well.
